We liked the location. There is a brewery next door which makes the hotel very convenient on terms of food. Also staff was very friendly which makes the stay more pleasant.

Disappointed
Breakfast: food is not always fresh. Some of the restaurant personnel is not friendly: you feel like you disturb them. After midnight, hotel is closed and you need key to enter. On site is mentioned free parking. Parking area has only 3 places. In rest there is a payment public parking. Housekeeping: they don’t respect the “Do Not Disturb” sign, and enter the room, and sometimes they don’t let new towels in the room.

I suppose your experience and the level of satisfaction will very much depend on the room you get. Let me explain what I mean. When we checked in, we were given a room that faced a street that’s pretty busy with traffic. We really did like the look and the size of this room. However, I think the hotel windows are not made from sound-proof glass, so it was very noisy. I do not sleep well in noisy surroundings and we asked the receptionist to give us a different room that faces the courtyard area. We were given a new room and it looked dramatically different from the first one. It was much, much smaller and much less attractive as well. But I thought that a good night’s sleep is more important than the look of the room and we decided to stay in the second room. Next thing we had to deal with was a large radiator that was turned on full blast [in this tiny room]… And it was, like, plus 7 degrees C outside, so there really was no need for the radiator to be turned up full blast). We closed the valves on the radiator and opened the window. It took about 2 hours to cool the room off to a comfortable temperature, and by then we were really tired and very ready to fall asleep. Another thing that we did not like was the shower in our room, as it was very tiny. My husband and I are not big/tall people and even for us the shower was very small (I was almost touching the walls of the shower stall when I was taking a shower).

Charming
Slightly dated but very charming hotel, near the bus stop in San Pellegrino. We enjoyed an amaro on the terrace after dinner.

Comfortable hotel at end of main road of town
We stayed here in a triple room for one night to experience San Pellegrino. The town have lost an opportunity to use their connection to the brand known worldwide, I couldn't find anywhere to buy even a postcard! Hotel has a few spaces for cars right outside, not sure if anywhere else. Chap on reception friendly and helpful. Decor perhaps a bit dated but there seemed to be mainly older people visiting. Lots of seating areas and even a child's playroom on ground floor. Room a good size with a shower room. No air conditioning. Breakfast a typical continental one and a selection of fresh pastries brought to our table. Reasonable room and breakfast price. We went to a restaurant one street back from Main Street just opposite spa entrance which was a 10 minute walk away. Lovely pizzas. Owned by two brothers who even opened up a bit early for us.

Friendly hotel with real Italian charm
This is a well-positioned hotel with river views in the historic spa town of San Pellegrino, Lombardy. Great for a short break. Easy to get to by regular direct 'B' bus from Bergamo (bus stop outside hotel; bus trip is beautiful through the Valle Brembana). The hotel is excellent value and the hosts are very friendly, particularly the Papa who has been running the hotel for more or less 50 years. Also English-speaking. Rooms are very simple but very clean and very modern bathroom. But GB visitors remember you can't expect tea/coffee/kettle facilities in any Italian hotel room! Filling breakfast with pastries, cereal, yoghurt, rolls, cheese/ham, nice cappuccino etc. Saw they can do a cooked breakfast if asked. A friendly atmosphere was important to me as I was on a solo trip to the region particularly the fabulous spa, after a business trip to Milan. The area is great for architecture enthusiasts of the Art Nouveau era e.g. the spa, the Casino, the old swimming pool, etc. It also has some wonderful local walks in the valley (walk up by the marked route by the casino - pretty steep but worth the view at the top!). If I could recommend anything the road in front of the hotel is very busy so ask for a room at the back if you are a light sleeper. The surrounding countryside and the stunning QC Terme spa are the main attractions. There is also an interesting set of caves but they are only open on Sundays and in summer and so I missed visiting them as I only stayed three nights.
