The staff and room were both a great comfort. The pub on the first floor is an amazing place. The bartender made the night go by quickly.

This is really two hotel properties: the original ranch-style reception, lounge and restaurant with an attached two-story hotel, and a rather anodyne modern 'tower' building with small businesses on the first floor and an adjoining multi-story parking garage. Our room was, by choice, in the older original portion of the complex. The grounds around it are lovely and well-maintained. The building, hallways and rooms show their age. They are tidy and in reasonably good order, but expect squeaky floors, sticky doors, and creature comforts that were added long after the motel opened in 1917. We paid extra for the balcony and never stepped out onto it; it was dusty and not very inviting. The pool and surrounding landscaping was spectacular and this alone would prompt a repeat visit. How often do you find a truly DEEP hotel pool these days? The water was clean and the backdrop of the old rambler-style hotel and royal palms was really beautiful. All in all, a quirky but memorable place to spend the night, and the rates were reasonable.

Excellent!

The stay was very enjoyable. Intermittent problems with the flushing mechanism in the toilet tank were the only hitches, Excellent communication with dining and main desk staff.

Great value, historic, and close to hospital

Had to find a hotel for our family to stay that was near the Marian Regional Medical Center. This historic hotel provided all the necessities to make our extended stay comfortable, and was quite affordable. We enjoyed exploring the hotel, as a welcomed distraction from the stressful reason for our visit to Santa Maria, and wished we had more time to indulge in their beautiful restaurant and wine tasting room. We will likely be back.

Staff was great! I was in the area for work and stayed in the historic part. There was only one usable outlet so next time I will try the tower. I liked the ease of parking.

Smelly carpet and crooked room

The hotel smells, it looks like they attempt to clean but there is only so much cleaning a carpet will take before needing to be replaced. Same goes for the paint one the walls. I get that it is a historical building but I think more needs to be done. There is also not enough signage, I got lost in the confusing hotel trying to find the front desk. The entire room just looked crooked as well. There wasn’t any hot water in the shower either, it was warm water at best. The door to the hallway didn’t reach the ground so the light beamed into the room all night. The AC and heater worked really well though and the bed was comfortable.
