This trip did not reflect the standards promoted on expedia, nor did it meet basic expectations of safety, hygiene, or service. Our health was impacted, our privacy was violated, and we were exposed to deeply inappropriate behavior at what should have been a family-friendly resort. I will be sending a final complaint as well.

The property is right on the beach and has a lovely view! However, the beach is not suitable for swimming. The pools are nice. However, the temperatures varied throughout our stay and the hot tub was not hot/warm. The room was clean and met overall expectations. The elevator was out of service so we had to take the stairs during the entirety of our stay (not a huge deal but something to note). The food was pretty average but there were a lot of options at the buffet. Overall we had a good time, staff was nice.

I want to start off on a good note. Absolutely love the staff. The pool entertainment team were great playing bingo was my favorite. First red flag was right after booking. I reserved the room through Expedia for myself and my 5 year old daughter, but I was surprised to see an extra guest fee added. When I inquired about it i was given the run around for weeks but eventually I was told the charge was because I booked a single occupancy room which might i add had double beds, which still makes no sense since I clearly listed both of us as guests. That alone should’ve warned me I was walking into some nonsense. The resort is advertised as “new”, but there’s nothing new about it. I think it was just rebranded with minor renovations(if that). The room is subpar, the chairs on my balcony were ripped, the bug netting sliding door on the balcony was broken. There was a yogurt bottle on the floor behind the night stand the shower water doesn’t get really hot. When i bought all of these issues to the front desk they were able to change the chairs and fix the sliding netting door. They never removed the yogurt bottle which i bought to their attention 3 times I’m pretty sure it’s still there in real time. I eventually took showers in my sister room because her water was hot, but on the last night she had a dead cockroach in her bathroom and this was after her room was cleaned. If your standards are low this is place would be great for you but i would not recommend.

Disappointing Experience – Not Worth the Price I recently stayed at this resort and, unfortunately, it did not live up to expectations. The overall service was mediocre at best. The front desk staff were particularly unfriendly and unwelcoming, which set a negative tone from the moment we arrived. It felt like we were more of a burden than valued guests. The food across most of the resort was underwhelming—bland, poorly presented, and certainly not what you’d expect from a property in this price range. The only exception was the sushi restaurant, which was excellent. Great quality, attentive service, and truly the highlight of the dining experience. It’s a shame because the property itself has potential, but the lack of hospitality and attention to detail really diminished our stay. I won’t be returning and would not recommend it to anyone seeking a true resort-level experience.

This being my second time to this resort since the Solaris took over for the Barcelo, I have been very very disappointed. The staff is still amazing and great, but some of the staff members from the Solaris focus solely on members, and I was basically told that if I did not get a timeshare membership that I was a nobody after being to the resort close to 50 times as the Barcelo would I recommend going back no the only reason I would ever go back is due to the staff that have stayed although about 40 percent of the staff that was at the Barcelo have left due to new management changes. Also the changes in the food at the à la carte restaurants is awful twice now I have felt very sick after eating there. I had a girlfriend that got food poisoning, and from swimming in the infinity pool, her hair turned green and their response to this was that it was her shampoo or her detergent since other people‘s white bathing suits also turned green. I believe if we were a member, it would’ve been seriously taken care of but being not members of a timeshare they could care less that is just my personal opinion love the resort for years and years having been there close to 50 times before really thinking again about not going back and going to somewhere else

Every negative review was right on point. Every positive review must have been a bot. The buffet food was unpleasant. We enjoyed the Italian restaurant the first night, but not the second night. The service and the quality of food went down. We could not get a taco anywhere! To be in Mexico and not get Mexican food was very disappointing. There was lots of construction going on. It just seems that this location is not ready for guests. Office buildings are temporarily where you check-in and one of the bars. It's a very strange experience.They need additional staff that is properly trained to meet all inclusive expectations. This was our 10th all-inclusive trip to Mexico, first time at this resort, and we will not come back. The swim of bar was usually staffed with one bartender to serve two hundred people. We sat at the buffet for breakfast and no one came to give us water or coffee. We got our own.

The only reason why I don’t rate the property as terrible is because our bartender at the pool was amazing and suggesting drinks for us to try. But as soon as we go there nothing was explained to us, the memberships and the different levels and restrictions, we were never give a towel card so we didn’t have towels for the first for the pool, we had to call down several times for our bags to be brought to our room since they took them when we arrived, when Luis was supposed to reservations for the restaurants he which the times and dates (disrupting our plans for my sister’s Birthday Dinner) and it wasn’t shared that the property was under construction. There were multiple times that we had to take the long way to our hotel room because the construction blocked our way to get to the elevators. Each day it seemed like there was a new problem and when we went to address it we were shrugged off because we booked on Expedia. They made it a point to be clear that since we used Expedia that they would address our concerns at their convenience. I would highly recommend staying somewhere else especially since the only time they appeared to have everything together was when it looked like there was a site visit happening. It was apparent by all of a sudden, the lifeguard equipment being hung by the pool, the once two out of the four bathrooms stalls(by pool) now miraculously fixed, handicap was available, and the bucket that was used in the bathroom to catch the overflow water was gone

I stayed at this hotel recently and was quite disappointed overall. The food was a major issue—options were extremely limited, and what was available was often stale or unappetizing. For the price, I expected much better quality and variety. The hotel itself is clearly in need of repairs. The pool area, in particular, stood out for the wrong reasons—several tiles were broken, and it didn’t feel like a safe or relaxing space to use. Other parts of the property also felt dated and poorly maintained. The one saving grace was the staff. Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. The staff deserve better, and so do the guests.

We stayed at GR Solaris Lighthouse Los Cabos from May 14–21, 2025, and were extremely disappointed. The listing promised 6 restaurants and 4 bars — but one buffet and one bar were closed, the sushi restaurant wasn’t in the lighthouse as advertised, and pool tables were unavailable due to closures. The kids’ area was also closed without warning. The resort posed health risks: my partner had serious allergic reactions due to food cooked in peanut oil (with no signage) and bedding washed with coconut/palm oil-based detergent. Staff could not offer allergen-safe alternatives. We spent time indoors recovering, unable to enjoy our trip. Room service was over an hour late and cold. One meal never arrived. Dining reservations were hard to get for our family, and we had to skip meals more than once. Lighting around our room was dangerously poor at night — a tripping hazard for our kids. This was not the relaxing or safe environment advertised. Expedia is currently reviewing our refund request, but I would not recommend this resort to families, especially those with dietary needs or allergies. Be cautious — the experience did not match what was promoted online.
