The bar and restaurant close at 10pm. The coffee shop had a sign that indicated it would be closed for 30 minutes at 10am. Staffing seemed to be light. My assigned room was occupied (I was able to access the room with my key) The same thing happened to another guest. There seem to be some kinks that need to be worked out during the transition to Marriot.

I recently stayed at the Grand Bay Hotel in San Francisco, which has just transitioned into a Marriott property—a promising change that I think will only enhance the experience moving forward. From the moment I arrived, the staff stood out. They were incredibly attentive, accommodating, and genuinely pleasant throughout my stay. Their professionalism and warmth made a real difference. Although I didn’t get a chance to dine at the restaurant in the evening, I did try the breakfast. It was decent—nothing extravagant, but fairly priced and in line with local standards. The same goes for the drinks in the evening: good value and a relaxing atmosphere. My room on the 9th floor was very comfortable. While the decor felt slightly dated, everything was spotlessly clean, and the view over the water was absolutely beautiful—definitely a highlight. One of the unexpected joys of my stay was the nearby boardwalk. I happened to visit on a gorgeous day, and it was perfect for a long, peaceful stroll. It added a lovely touch to the overall experience. All in all, I would happily stay here again. With the Marriott transition underway and such a strong team already in place, I’m confident this hotel is only going to get better.

Location is great and the staff are friendly and very personable. This is truly a benefit as the hotel has undergone several ownership transitions since I started visiting about a decade ago. Facilities are undergoing renovation a floor at a time, so some rooms are better than others. However the restaurant is great, with seasonal menu changes, and the location adjacent to the lagoon has wildlife and nice walkability.

Check-in / reception was great! Very friendly and helpful! Good food and food options in the restaurant, also very quick! Gym is decent for a hotel, appreciated the variety of equipment. Counters in the room were not cleaned, there were rings from cups there before.
