The Domaine des Monge consists of an elegant18th Century Manor House typical of the Gironde region which has been passionately renovated over the past years.
A charming Cottage which can accommodate up to six people has views over a landscaped garden looking down to the Dordogne river bank.
The Cottage features four bedrooms:
A parental suite with ensuite bathroom and dressing room is located at one end of the house
At the other end a separate staircase leads to a further three double bedrooms and a second large bathroom with separate shower, bath and toilet.
One of the bedrooms has two single beds.
The beautifully tiled ground flloor living area includes:
A large fully equipped family kitchen / dining area.
A charming living room with exceptional, original art works, a games / television room.
A separate toilet / laundry area - equipped with washer / dryer.
The entire groung floor opens out onto an exceptional riverfront terrace surrounded by a stone pond filled with water lilies and very happy fish. The terrace features a rustic oak-beamed dining area equipped with BBQ facilities.
A paved path leads from this terrace to an enclosed private pool (5 meters x 10 meters) with it’s raised teak deak looking out over magnificent river views.

A Wonderful Experience!
We stayed in the cottage for one week at the end of June. The cottage was perfect for the four of us and afforded us the ability to range from Cap Ferrat to Bergerac to visit towns, Bordeaux, chateaus, and gardens. The property is right on the river and very quiet. We enjoyed evenings on the patio, or down by the river, or eating in very nice nearby restaurants.
Serge and Peter were wonderful hosts--going far beyond the usual role of providing tourist information and arranging some reservations. We felt that we were part of a family--sharing stories with them over an outdoor meal or having a refreshing swim in the pool. Meeting them was a significant part of a wonderful wedding anniversary trip.

Un cottage extremement soigné, décoré avec goût. Toutes les prestations sont excellentes. Une cuisine tres bien équipée. La piscine privee est top et nos hôtes tres accueillants. A recommander! Nous reviendrons avec grand plaisir.

Herausragendes Ferienhaus an der Dordogne
Wir (vier Erwachsene) haben im Ferienhaus der „Domaine des Monges“ einen wunderbaren Urlaub verbracht. Das Haus ist geräumig, sehr geschmackvoll und komfortabel eingerichtet, sauber und die Technik funktioniert. Sollte man ein Problem haben, kümmern sich die stets erreichbaren Gastgeber, Serge und Peter, sofort um alles. Beide sprechen fließend Französisch und Englisch. Selten haben wir einen so guten, angenehmen Service erlebt. Die Einrichtung mit schönen Möbeln und Antiquitäten vermittelt dem Gast das Leben wohlhabender südwestfranzösischer Landbevölkerung. Ein Tipp für stattliche Deutsche: Die guten französischen Betten dort haben nur die landestypischen Maße von ungefähr 1,40 m Breite. Man sollte deshalb überlegen, ob man das Haus tatsächlich mit acht Personen nutzen will.
In der Domaine kann man sich bestens erholen. Die Umgebung ist völlig ruhig, insbesondere ohne Verkehrslärm. Der große und äußerst gepflegte Garten grenzt an den Fluss Dordogne. Der Pool ist groß genug zum richtigen Schwimmen, auf der Poolterrasse hat man einen schönen Blick über den Fluss. Direkt am Haus befindet sich eine weitere große Terrasse mit z.T. überdachten Esstischen und Außengrill.
Die unmittelbare Umgebung des Anwesens ist landwirtschaftlich geprägt. Die ganz großen Sehenswürdigkeiten der Dordogne, Bordeaux mit seinen berühmten Weinbaugebieten sowie die Atlantikküste liegen in einiger Entfernung, sind aber mit dem Auto ohne weiteres erreichbar. Die großen Touristenströme verlaufen deshalb woanders.
Besonders zu empfehlen ist das Anwesen für Urlauber, die die französische Lebensart genießen wollen, gerne Gutes einkaufen und kochen, die Natur und Gärten lieben, entspannen wollen und/oder Spaß daran haben, die Antikläden und -Märkte der Umgebung zu durchstöbern und dabei manch schönes Stück zu günstigen Preisen zu erwerben. In der Umgebung wird ein durchaus schmackhafter Wein produziert, z.B. im Chateau Carbonneau bei Gensac. Für Kinder ist der große Garten mit Pool sicherlich eine Attraktion. Außerdem gibt es einen freundlichen Hund und mehrere Hühner und Zwergziegen. Im angrenzenden Herrenhaus befinden sich einige schöne Gästezimmer und Gesellschaftsräume (bed and breakfast). Die dortigen Gäste haben einen eigenen Garten mit eigenem Pool, sodass man sich nicht in die Quere kommt.
Quintessenz: Die Gastgeber haben mit der „Domaine des Monges“ das Angebot an schönen französischen Ferienhäusern im Premiumbereich zweifellos erweitert. Wir wollen gerne wiederkommen.

Séjour parfait
Nous avons été ravis de notre semaine, la maison est extremement bien équipée et décorée, la piscine est parfaite et l'emplacement idéal, au bord de la dordogne. Les hôtes se sont montrés très disponibles et extrêmement accueillants, tout était parfait! Je recommande vivement.
