Not a hotel. It is at best a B&B. No restaurant or bar and in the middle of nowhere. No food service other than a woeful breakfast. Rooms are very basic. It is in fact a charity providing accommodation for children with dementia. That's fine - but none of the above transparent on Expedia or website.

We were disappointed with several aspects of our stay. Although Room 9 was spacious, it was very basic, and the overall condition of the property left much to be desired. The towels provided were old and torn, and the shower was rusted with barely any water pressure. The chateau itself appeared poorly maintained and quite run-down, giving the impression of a lack of strong and caring management. During a walk in the otherwise beautiful forest nearby, we were disheartened to see construction waste dumped along the road. Additionally, the reception was not staffed when we checked out, so we had to leave our room key on the front desk. While the property carries the name of a chateau, the experience unfortunately does not live up to it — especially not at the $200 price point. If the original owner who donated it were to see the current state of maintenance, they would likely be disappointed. The atmosphere, which is meant to be peaceful and tranquil, was disrupted by a group of young men walking around playing loud music. Although free car charging is provided , the outlet is outdated and incompatible with most modern electric vehicles, making it of little practical use. On the positive side, we arrived late but received clear instructions for accessing the room after hours, which was helpful. The breakfast was decent and sufficient to start the day.

Absolutely amazing and much cheaper than an equivalent hotel in the UK. Bedroom was huge and spotless. It was a super king double, with lovely views over the countryside. The continental breakfast was superb. There is no kettle in the room, but you do have access to a kettle outside, so bring your own tea and coffee.

Lovely 3 star Hotel located in the Countryside near Angers. The Hotel is operated by an Agency that provides care for children that require specual care and this is supported by the revenue generated by the Hotel. Wonderful reason to stay

The château is run by a charity and is a bit shabby. However the rooms were spacious and clean, the service friendly and the breakfast good. The setting is beautiful with walks in the surrounding forested grounds.

Wonderful place and friendly staff! Good breakfast. Internally, although it was nice and comfortable, I was expecting some “old”, castle-like decoration and furniture. But just the location and surroundings is worth the stay. And it was good to know it is a charity organisation.

Sorry it was only one night

A very imposing French Chateaux with sweeping entrance and ample parking. Reception staff were efficient and friendly, showed us to our room and explained about wifi etc. The room was spacious and clean with good sized comfortable beds and well appointed en suite bathroom. It included a small balcony overlooking the courtyard garden and the wifi worked well and continuously when required. The overall impression of the room and the hotel was of a quiet well maintained elegance. Breakfast was French cold buffet with a good but not extensive choice. Location is very quiet and rural but not far from Angers which is a spectacular smallish city with impressive Castle and Cathedral. We were sorry to only have a one night stay. If you like peace and tranquillity this is a great place to stay. We can recommend it with our whole hearts.

Great Off the Beaten Path!

Briancon is an opportunity to stay out in the countryside. The Chateau still operates partly as a school for children with disabilities and has been converted from dormitories into lovely large and gracious rooms. The staff is incredibly helpful and warm. They do speak some English! We had a VERY large room with a beautiful view over the countryside. The bed was a king and we had a twin cot pulled in for our 5 year old. There was still plenty of room for him to play on the rug and we had a picnic dinner out on the front lawn. I would recommend that dinner choices in Off Season are hard to come buy unless you go into Samur or Angers. Bathrooms were new and lots of hot water. Breakfast was delfightful!!
