Welcome to "The Brown Bear Lodge", your year-round retreat in the heart of Wintergreen Ski Resort- just a short walk from the main chair lift Mountain Inn Resort with many restaurant options. Unwind by the original stone fireplace after a fun filled day soaking in the crisp mountain air. With updated decor, the interior offers the perfect cozy and comfortable setting to feeling right at home for visitors seeking a place to rest after a day of adventure in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Enjoy seasonal mountain views from the balcony enjoying the conversations by the outdoor fire pit as well as the ability to explore nearby hiking trails and charming wineries, breweries, cideries & distilleries... just minutes away along Nelson's renowned 151. Wintergreen is a unique destination boasting a variety of activities during each season such as skiing, tubing, hiking, biking, fishing, boating, tennis, swimming, fitness, golf, and rejuvenating spa opportunities. Let's not forget about the many dining options just moments from our home- it is a culinary experience that will have you coming back for more! The Brown Bear Lodge is a 3 bedroom 2.5 bath standalone home tucked back at the end of a cul-de-sac where you can enjoy the peacefulness of being away from the city. The space will accommodate two families ideally -with a bunk bed room to comfortably sleep 4 children and two separate accommodations with luxury memory foam queen size mattresses for a good night's sleep. Each bedroom is equipped with a closet to neatly hang clothing (hangers provided), and a sound machine. Very family friendly where the loft is stocked with games, cards, music, toys, bean bag chairs and a Big Buck Hunter arcade. The space comes with all basic amenities you will need including drip coffee machine, propane grill on the deck, a fully equipped kitchen with a slow cooker, air fryer, toaster, and blender. Spices, sugar, pots and pans, utensils, dishes, wine glasses, bourbon glasses, wine and bottle opener, linens, towels, and hair dryers are all included. The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:
Load and start the dishwasher
Strip any used beds and gather used towels
Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights and lock the doors
MAKE SURE ALL BASEBOARD HEATERS ARE TURNED OFF and thermostat (black box) in living room is left at 78 degrees (summer) and 62 degrees (winter). Turn hot tub temperature down to 96 degrees.
Place lid on the burner of the propane fire pit and cover with fire pit cover. Ensure the BBQ grill is clean if used, and place the cover back on it.
Please take ALL trash to one of the two following drop off locations: 100-210 Blackrock Dr 2034-2042 Stone Ridge Property management will charge $25 fee per bag if trash is left.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.

We visit Afton every year and this property has it all! Charming house, in the mountains, but close to everything. The property is well maintained by the hosts and has every convenience you can think of! Thanks for a great stay Brown Bear!

Perfect getaway!

The Brown Bear Lodge is the perfect getaway! The host was very communicative and punctual! The check in process was so simple, I felt as if I owned the place. The house was exceptionally clean, organized, and fully stocked. The location is packed with beautiful views, and was so peaceful and quiet while sitting around around the fire pit at night. I would give this place 6 stars if they would let me and will continue to return back year after year!
