We stayed at the Valais in late September/early October this year, & had a wonderfully relaxing & enjoyable week. The hotel is right on the beach, which is sandy, & the sea is shallow for a long way out, making it very safe for swimming. We particularly enjoyed the "beach butler" service, which meant we could eat lunch & get drinks without ever moving from our sunbeds, & breakfast on the terrace with a perfect beach view. The hotel itself is clean, modern & comfortable, & there are multiple screens in the bar showing all the football games you could want. It was never noisy though, & the location away from the main village is very peaceful. We found a lovely taverna "Neraida" just two minutes' walk away near the little harbour, with a very traditional Greek menu & a beach view perfect for watching the sun set behind the mountains opposite. We ate there most nights. The main village is a five-ten minute walk away if you fancy more variety, but most of the eateries there seem more "touristy" & less Greek. The hotel has a pool & a variety of watersports & boat trips on offer, although we didn't make use of them. The staff are friendly & couldn't do enough to make sure we were well looked after. We would like to thank Julie, Katerina, Christos & especially Riz who was so helpful when my partner managed to injure himself one night - NOT the fault of the hotel by the way! We would definitely stay there again.
