The Colony House is fine for a quick stay. The mid-century hype is all on the outside of the hotel. The interior is basically limited to a mid-century modern-ish interpretation in the wallpaper. The room was otherwise standard fare for a mid-level motel. The internet was wildly slow and kept kicking me off. I had an event that evening and when I returned, the bathroom had three centipedes that were taking advantage of the quiet. I informed the staff on checkout, but they didn't acknowledge the photo I showed them. They also put a $150 incidentals hold on your card. That gets returned, but it is an abnormally large charge for the area and quality of the facility.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The room was comfortable, and the staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. I even forgot my computer cord when I checked out, and they went above and beyond by mailing it back to me free of charge—I really appreciate their thoughtfulness and efficiency. Their service truly left a lasting impression, and I would gladly stay here again. Highly recommend!

We loved staying here! It was nice to break away from the chain hotels, and Colony House was so pretty--retro, but modern. Our room was so clean, and the bed was very comfortable. The area is convenient, too.

Renovation is a super success

The renovation created a really cool art deco vibe that is uncommon for motels. Super, super clean and it was very convenient to parts of Roanoke that we needed to see. I'd 100% stay here again.

Beautifully redone rooms that are spacious and with basic conveniences. Retro, clean vibe-love that it’s not carpet! Staff is amazing and very welcoming. Even though it is close to the street, the traffic noise isn’t too bad. Very well lit and safe feel with great food options all around. Will definitely stay here again if in the area!

This hotel was absolutely fabulous! It was a perfect stop en route to the mountains in NC and the design is impeccable! They really nailed the mid-century modern roadside motel motif -it was perfect and functional without being overdone. It was perfect for a roadtrip getting to pull up to our room to unload. The staff was very accommodating for our pets as well. We will absolutely stay again.
