The location is beautiful, surrounded by trees, and the treehouses look fantastic. This was a trip we’d waited six years for after our original honeymoon was cancelled due to COVID, so we arrived expecting a special stay.
Unfortunately, someone else was already in the treehouse we’d booked. After spending a small fortune on phone calls, we were moved to a different property that wasn’t suitable for our family, so we never got to stay in the accommodation we’d chosen.
One of the main reasons we booked was the pool, but it was closed for our entire stay despite temperatures of 32°C+.
There was no bed linen on arrival, which wasn’t delivered until late that evening, and we were then told to make our own beds. There also weren’t enough bowls for our family, and despite requesting more, they never arrived.
The lodge itself is beautiful, clean, but under-equipped. We’d suggest providing enough crockery for the number of guests, adequate seating (ours only had a small two-seater sofa), basic tea and coffee supplies (the coffee machine isn’t much use without them), a kitchen towel for drying up, and moving the TV slightly to avoid having to duck underneath it.
It’s a real shame because the setting is stunning. What should have been a magical, long-awaited honeymoon was overshadowed by a series of avoidable issues.
