A good base to explore Recife

You have to be careful where you wander in Recife. Hotel is in nice safe neighborhood and always has taxi's out front.

Decent Hotel - not so good neighborhood

Decent hotel, the only issue here was that Mercure Recife Metropolis Hotel was out of hot water (during the whole period of stay). They've said they've informed Hotels.com and they would be the one responsible for transferring the message. Bottom-line, they got us transferred to a nearby Mercure (this one with hot water). It was all taken care of pretty fast, all attendants were very helpful. One important issue: neighborhood is not nice - I'd rather stay at Mercure Navegantes (which was actually the one we got transferred to).

Great friendly staff, rather limited English speakers; they have one very fluent English speaker that was a great help. Other staff funny and helpful to the extent of even trying Google translator. We were there during the June protests - very concerned about keeping us safe, while also getting out in the city.

If I knew now what I did not then ....

I only stayed for one night, but the room and service were very good. I would have stayed longer but I wanted to be closer to the centre of Recife and the Metro station. If I stayed in Recife again I would use this hotel - its is far better than the one I am in now! I was however a bit disappointed with the breakfast choice, but that was really the only negative thing about my stay.

A good hotel, be prepared to use taxis.

I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel as I wasn't quite sure what to expect having read other feedback. Although few staff speak English they did try everything they could to understand and meet our needs. The breakfast was more than satisfactory and we felt very welcome in the breakfast room every morning for all of our stay. My husband particularly enjoyed the freshly made omelettes. The hotel's neighbourhood is very quiet in the evening and weekend. Travel by taxi is an absolute must. We apreciated effecient air conditioning, the fabulous shower and having a separate sitting area to the bedroom. The balcony was a plus. We didn't have a chance to use the small pool but it looked fine.

Perfect business hotel

Perfect location if you have an appointment at the US Consulate office, it only took 5 minutes to walk alk there. The hotel is very utilitarian, clean, no nonsense, business hotel. WiFi could use an upgrade but that goes for all brazilian hotels. Internet and cellular connectivity in Brazil is flat out awful across the board.

Stayed at the hotel on Oct. 6 &7 2012

The hotel was a surprise for me, I go to Recife often and always had to settle with a hotel on the beachfor lack of a good hotel closer to my family in the suberbs. This hotel is good, beds are confertable and sheets are nice as well as the pillows.The restaurante was surprisingly good, and Rebeca ( works at the hotel) was wonderfull in helping us with a complicated issue.

Great value in Recife

This is a lovely hotel with great service. They arranged a wonderful English-speaking guide to give us tours of Recife, Olinda, and the surrounding areas. The hotel has great service and an excellent restaurant.

Podia ser melhor.

A acomodação é boa , mas houve intercorrências, a saber: o aparelho de ar condicionado do quarto não tinha controle remoto, estava em temperatura muito baixa, tive que recorrer à recepção que mandou um funcionário ao quarto, o qual levou um controle remoto, aumentou a temperatura do ambiente e levou o controle com ele. O chuveiro não tinha pressão e emitia um filete de água rente à parede, desmontei o tal chuveiro e recoloquei-o no lugar e ele funcionou normalmente. O restaurante do hotel é fraco, com poucas opções no menu e mal elaborado. O café da manhã é médio, sem requinte. O quadro de pessoal é bastante atencioso.
