The rooms are dated, and the service was lackluster—if you don't tip upfront at meals, don't expect much attention. We had no hot water one day (with zero communication from the hotel about it), and the hot tub was cold. When I pointed this out, the staff didn't care. Worst of all, I left an item behind and have been trying to contact them to get it back, but they are ignoring my messages. It’s clear they don’t care about the guest experience once you’ve checked out. I won't be back. I used to be loyal to Riu, but this stay at Riu Republica changed my mind.

This experience was by far THE WORST I have experience at a RIU Resort for MANY reasons. Lets begin with check in which was a 2 hour long process Upon entering room 208 it lurked the smell of sewage and did not live up to the Tropical View I paid for. It showed more of a wooded area. the Bathroom looked very old and needed repairs. I was told by personnel to check back on Tuesday as no rooms were available. Went back on the 18th and was told no rooms are available to check back Wednesday. Wednesday I was furious because the sewage smell was worst and this was not the satisfying to me at all considering the money I spent. On Wednesday I was finally moved to another room that was just as worst even worser. TheAir Conditioner did not work, it had signs of the A/C leaking, it was NASTY and to make matters worst my daughter immediately became sick with breathing issues. I checked around the room to see if there was anything visible that i can tie her coughing to and noticed that the skirt around the bed had MOLD on it which was the source of the issues. Your staff did a good job (so they thought) covering things up NO ONE ever put in the system that the A/C needed servicing but they sent someone to the change the molded bed skirt. I have pictures that shows the neglected property

Room was decent sized but we had problem with air conditioning, the phone didn’t have a cord to call the front desk or house keeping. We asked for water multiple times but didn’t get any until last day. Food was terrible, vegetarian options were severely lacking . We literally survived on fruits for the entire stay. Overall not too happy with Riu!

Staff and receptionist were very helpful at RIU Republica. Food was good, jerk chicken by the beach by far the best selection. Only 2 things I would change is the rooms need an upgrade and the entertainment(music) only Spanish music, no variety

Disliked: Cleanliness, amenities, property conditions & facilities

Room wasn’t clean bed super uncomfortable but overall the quality of the food was really bad. Unfortunately wouldn’t recommend this place
