Good vacation but disappointing

Trip started with room we had booked not being available for 2 days, so they put us in a room directly next to the event stage which had blasting music until 10pm. We didn’t have any beds/cribs until 9pm the first night. They didn’t seem to care or provide any service which would make you feel welcomed or heard. Overall the food is bland or bad, but the coffee shop and muffins, and a la carte restaurants are good. The Japanese is the best. Service at the buffet restaurants is pretty bad - don’t expect to get water during your meal (or you’ll get it right before you finish) - the staff just seems miserable and sad. Omelet station was most promising for breakfast, pasta station for dinner given they were both made to order. Kids pool is nice and privileged beach area has nice space and beds. Kids club isn’t welcoming to English speaking families. We had a nice family trip but overall disappointed in the hotel and most of all the service.

The property was beautiful and very well maintained, There was definitely a lack of communication from all/most of the staff. Check-in staff did not communicate well. about anything but giving you your key/wristband. Had to figure things out on our own and ask a lot of questions. Bar staff was not friendly at all unless you had $$$ in your hand. I tip after getting serviced, not before. Restaurants...also had very poor communnication and most wait staff were unfriendly. I would not go back because of the staff. Many of the drink/water servers at the. restaurants were the friendliest. The entertainment staff were very friendly.

Recently stayed for 4 nights. We were unable to book a reservation at any of the restaurants on the resort, they were all completely booked. Our room was outdated and needs repairs, especially in the bathroom. I hate that the venders hound you to make a purchase especially at night. The food at the buffet was terrible for lunch and dinner. Breakfast was decent. The staff was friendly and the resort was kept clean. Would I return or recommend this resort? No

We really enjoyed our stay at Catalonia Punta Cana! It’s a very family-friendly resort with lots of activities for kids and families. The staff were all so friendly and welcoming. The entertainment team spoke French, Spanish, and English, and we loved meeting guests from Europe, Canada, Central and South America — it made for such a fun and lively atmosphere. We stayed in a standard (non-privileged) room, which was older and had some issues. There was a wad of hair in the shower, the bed broke the first night (quickly repaired), the door hinge came off, the TV didn’t work, and there were exposed wires above the bed. It didn’t ruin our trip, but I would definitely recommend booking a Privileged or newly renovated room if possible. The beach was absolutely stunning — soft white sand, clear shallow water, a Blue Flag designation, and a lifeguard on duty. The pool was huge and never felt crowded, and we always found available chairs without having to save them early. The kids' pool and small slide were a huge hit! The food was great with lots of variety — two buffets and several à la carte restaurants. Every meal we had was delicious, and the service was excellent throughout. Overall, even with a few room hiccups, it was a fantastic, memorable family trip. We would absolutely recommend Catalonia Punta Cana for families looking for a relaxing beach vacation!

Cockroaches in the room, mold growing in the bathroom and on the wood on the exterior of the building, no control of the ceiling fan speed, stray cats and dogs, rats, and no access to the restaurants - they need reservations, which was not conveyed when I booked the resort. Harassment by beach vendors every 5-10 minutes makes for an unpleasant and unrelaxing environment. Birds picking at/eating and walking on the food on the buffet, and the workers couldn’t care less - birds pooping on the dining chairs…makes for a pretty gross dining experience. Overall an awful experience.

Just an amazing resort. We went with 3 kids and they were not bored for 1 minute. The privliged family suite was immaculate for a family. The air conditioner did leak a little but the engineer came and fixed it immediately. It also was leaking because it ran constantly due to the beautiful weather. Staff were the friendliest we've experienced in any caribbean resort.

The staff was friendly. We had a pretty decent stay the window in the bathroom. The latch was broken and there was no reception on the TV. They told us five times. They were come fix it when we checked out they said nobody had TV. There was a lizard in the Shower when we got there no big deal.

6th time in Punta Cana with a family and kids. This was a budget all-inclusive hotel and for a budget hotel I would rate it 4 out of 5. It is family friendly for a price conscious guest. If you need a premium experience go to a premium hotel and pay a double or triple price. We liked the hotel and food met our expectation. I say this after staying in premium hotels a few times before. Small things bothered us like pesky birds in main restaurant which was outdoors. We like indoor main restaurants air conditioned and without birds flying all over. Need more bird control from the hotel. Those little birds were stealing food from tables. Also it would help a lot if hotels had a nurse or a doctor on staff. This hotel had a 3rd party doctor who would charge a very hefty price in my opinion for initial consultation before any treatment. All treatment and tests would cost extra. Medical treatment is so expensive on vacation so we are considering not to go on international vacations any more without buying travelers insurance.

My family and kid REALLY disliked this property. Animation team sucks. No free games for kids. The girl Betty at front desk has no kind of respect or courtesy whatsoever. Hotel is very money hungry. We have NEVER had to pay to play pool or any kids games on top of they never had change the 4 days we stood. So we could not enjoy any activitys during our stay. We will NEVER stay at a catalonia resort ever again at any part of the world. I can go on and on.

The property is small , all Walking distance to every section of the resort. , that was a plus, but then you can see the staff is not happy to be there , towel guy was rude, even though all the people there waiting for towels for couple hours were patient , buffet staff: they would see you waiting and ignoring you , waiting for the next waiter to come, you’ll ask for something and they would act like you are a nobody. The bartenders at the bar at night time were nice and happy , but then during the day the ladies bartenders would be talking among themselves and wouldn't come to you to offer you anything, they signal you to come to them to the other side even though you can see they weren't doing anything , The rooms were old, clean yes but old.
