Gorgeous, peaceful location ideal for families
Casa das Borboletas is part of a 3-house complex that shares a pool, a garden, and a game room. We visited in early August and it was very hot. Fortunately, the house had air-conditioning and effective ways to cover the windows and avoid unbearable heat. And the pool was a truly wonderful resource. It was kept really clean and the temperature of the water was always inviting, even in the evening.
The Casa das Borboletas is very spacious and has access to several spaces outside that are really inviting. Every morning, we sat reading in the shade by the pool and enjoyed the views of the garden and the nearby region.
Geraz do Minho is a small quiet place but there is easy access to Povoa do Lanhoso and to Braga, a lovely small city. However, even though the access to these places is easy, you really have to drive there if you want to get any essentials. Which brings me to the only complaint we had -- the hosts do not provide some essentials that would be expected. We stayed for 9 days, and found that we had to buy napkins, paper towels, toilet paper, and trash bags. The hosts also did not provide pool towels or coal for the grill.
Additionally, while the kitchen was very well supplied with cooking utensils, there was no olive oil, cooking oil, or cooking spices. We ended up buying all of those things and leaving the stuff we did not use for the next guests. And this is the thing, the hosts probably would not even need to purchase most of these things...
