Got a phone call at 6.55pm on Friday evening reminding us that booking office closes at 7pm. We were only a couple of minutes away so not really a drama but I can't believe that 7pm is an acceptable close time for an office at the "crossroads of Australia" with travellers coming from all directions.
"Very handy to hotel restaurants of a good standard"
Very pleasant office staff who allowed me to change my booking arrangements due to vehicle breakdown. Very quiet surroundings and comfortable beds.Convenient for easy arrival from main highway and departure to Adelaide on the same main highway.
Traveller from Sth Frankston Victoria
Quiet off the highway, Beachside location. Close to shops and Central Business District. Secluded pool and barbecue area …More
Easy to find and park. A friendly greeting upon arrival. Happy to answer all my questions. Room was nice and comfortable. Double glazing and rammed earth walls made for a quiet nights sleep. Shower was hot and water pressure is great. Next time I'm in town I will stay here again
Located at the top of the Spencer Gulf, Port Augusta provides a landscape of contrasts and the perfect backdrop for our Port Augusta accommodation. Considered the crossroads of South Australia, Port Augusta is the last oasis before the long stretch of desert that lies beyond it.
To the west you will find the rolling green Flinders Ranges and to the east, Adelaide city. Port Augusta is just a stones throw from the long road of salt flats and desert sand that lead to Australia’s red centre. But you wouldn’t know that you are on the edge of a desert by staying in a Port Augusta hotel as the city is covered in leafy parks and playgrounds.
If you do decide to head out and explore the outback while staying in one of our Port Augusta hotels, a visit to the Wadlata Outback Centre is a must. Here you will find the most comprehensive information about what to expect and how to handle the Australian wilderness.
