This is a property built in the 70s that have not been upgraded since the 90s other than the clim units in the bedrooms. The main living area of the house is open do not have clim. During dinner, we were sweating a lot and we ended up with multiple bugs bites. The house has no real windows, it’s only ventilation shutters that separate you from outside.
On the positive side, we ate extremely well and the staff was great.
So pictures of the house on the website are deceiving and were probably taken a decade ago.

Massively Overpriced and certainly not good value
To give this property five stars is a joke... 3 stars as best.. The property has no beach, an average pool and hot tub and very limited land space. A complete upgrade of the basic amenities is needed. The Wi-Fi is not accessible throughout the entire house, the cable (only accessible on a 22inch monitor in the living room and the package is so basic) is a complete joke and the TVs should be donated to a children's home... On the bright side the staff is very knowledgeable, courteous and competent

Wonderful!
We traveled to Chateau en Exotica for winter break (Dec 25-Jan 1). We had a phenomenal visit. We were two families and the house is spacious, comfortable, and very clean. We loved the beautiful tropical setting among fruit trees. In fact, we often ate the coconuts and pineapples off the property. The staff at the house, Sylvia, Warren, Chris and Doris, are as sweet, kind and accommodating as can be. They emanated Jamaican warmth. And have I mentioned the food? Divine! We wanted to try local food and they found just the right blend of Jamaican spice and exotic flavors and familiar and delicious cuisine. Even the smallest one of us (seven!) gobbled up every bite. And Warren's homemade pies? To die for! We couldn't decide which was our favorite: key lime, coconut creme, or chocolate silk! We also loved eating our meals al fresco with warm tropical breezes caressing our appetites. The never ending supply of Red Stripe beer and/or rum punches didn't hurt either! The other totally delightful part of our experience that we hadn't appreciated when we booked the Chateau was that Port Antonio is an unspoiled corner of Jamaica. On our plane ride back to the States we met other travelers who hadn't left the property they were on for their entire stay. We had gone out exploring each day freely and met many warm Jamaicans who were happy to share their beautiful country with us. Joyce does a great job managing the Chateau and we hope that we can return one day. It was one of our favorite vacations ever!

truly an ultimate fantasy retreat
My favorite place to go is Chateau en Exotica in Pt. Antonio, Jamaica. One can never be bored because of the numerous things to do like going to San San private beach, so intimate with white sand caressing your feet. There is river rafting, or going to Reach Falls as seen in "Cocktails: starring Tom Cruise. The craft markets are well stocked and this is naming a few things to do. Best of all is after enjoying the sea and sun you go back to the Chateau to be pampered. The service extended by the staff is absolutely A1 and at the same time very professional. One of my sumptuous meals is Doris' pumpkin soup which is to die for. The chateau is exquisitely decorated and at the same time very intimate. . The staff is very gracious, very polite and also friendly.. I look forward with so much anticipation to my next visit - it is so worth it. I must not fail to mention that working with the owners concerning reservation, and accommodation is polite and hassle free.

Sheer Bliss
After giving birth 3 months ago, vacation was the last thing on my mind but I'm happy that my wonderful & thoughtful husband convinced me in going to Jamaica where we stayed in the most romantic oasis surround by lush green mountains harmoniously over looking the beautiful blue sea as the sounds of song birds filled the air. Upon our arrival we were graciously greeted with champagne in long stem crystal glasses by the butler & the entire staff making us feel like celebrities. Chef Doris is really fantastic not to mention her must have delicious bread pudding. The villa was immaculately kept especially being paranoid about my new born. I was pampered with an amazing reflexologist & baby nurse Carole Rose who has duel citizenship in Jamaican & United States which was all arranged by the staff. I felt safe leaving my baby to go and have poolside candle lit romantic dinners with my husband & lounge at the most beautiful private white sandy beaches. The staff went above & beyond in their call of duty. I almost forgot that I was a new Mom. Come one come all & immerse yourself in sheer bliss. I'm Already planning my return trip to Chateau en Exotica with two other couples & their children.

A+ for Satisfaction
Me and my family have enjoyed going to the Chateau en Exotica over the years, my most recent being early this month. This is a haven for seclusion. My most relaxing time is early mornings by the pool overlooking "Aligator Head" (note shape of the land stretched out in the blue waters) with reflections of the sun on the water. The professionalism combined with the cheerfulness of the staff leave nothing to be desired. The pictures speak for themselves - what you see is definitely what you get. If you want privacy, that's the place to be and if you want more action that's also nearby.
My family and I alternate our visits between the "Chateau "and the "Castles" in Ocho Rios (also owned by Henri & Joyce Verne) and we have never been disappointed. I wholeheartedly recommend anyone to choose either place for an unforgettable vacation.

Dream Vacation
As travelers to Cancun, much of the Caribbean, Hawaii (hang loose) the Florida Keys and
The Bahamas (including the Atlantis resort, which is also a fun place, man made beautiful, but sorry to say, we found that the staff, at ATLANTIS resort, seemed to have little or no consideration, for THEIR ATLANTIS guests).
Our personal vacation favorites, are the Chateau en Exotica, and Castles on the Sea, Ocho Rios Jamaica, we had spent both our honeymoon, and since then five family vacations at the Chateau (which speaks for itself)
We have also recently vacationed at Castles on the Sea, which is also owned by the same owners, (who own the Chateau en Exotica), which is close to Ocho Rios Jamaica, and once again, we have had some of our very best vacations ever, problem is which one to visit, Chateau or Castles?
This year we split up our vacation with one week at each property, which was exactly the right choice, for us.
Both are totally different, but equally fantastic in their own ways, we wound up having the best family vacations we have ever enjoyed.
If your looking for a unique vacation/dream honeymoon getaway, or very special occasion, with a friendly and surperb staff, fabulous meals, a famous pristine Chateau, or two twin "Castles", we recommend either property, pick the one that best suits what you all enjoy the most. You wont go wrong.
In either one of the most gorgeous tropical settings imaginable, only minutes away, are Gorgeous private beaches, rivers/ waterfalls for swimming, Blue lagoons, tennis, golf and without lots of tourist trapings.
Though there are more tourist attractions in the Ocho Rios area, Dunns River Falls, Mystic Mountain, Dolphin Cove, Fern Gully etc), therefore you will likely find many more fellow tourist's in Ocho Rios.
However Castles is actually about a 15 minute's drive away, from Margaritaville, and many of the other tourist attractions of Ocho Rios.
We also love and enjoy the party atmosphere of Cancun, its lovely beaches (though mostly rough waters for swimming). But staying in a hotel, is not privacy.
We find both the Chateau and Castles are TOTALLY private resorts, that are VERY VERY hard to beat.
Thanks to all of our friendly staff at both properties, who always treat us as royalty, always providing us with cherished privacy, simply awesome unforgetible dining treats, great tropical drinks, and SO much more, GOD willing we will be back again.
