This property is beautiful and serene and wild. It feels like an oasis compared to the busier side of Barbados.
We relaxed immediately and were able to walk along the coast paths and into Bathsheba. One stunning botanical garden is walking distance too. There's a local community centre that opens little street food stands and yep, rum! And in Bathsheba itself there are a tiny number of cafes - check opening hours - sometimes the place is deserted!
The jewel of the lodge is the Chef. OMG. The food was off the scale delicious. Authentic local food taken to another level. The restaurant is perfectly placed with views over the ocean and all the staff were bright and attentive. We are very fussy eaters and keen cooks and this service was faultless. The restaurant isn't open every day so check ahead.
The lodge has stunning views across the sea and plenty of areas to kick back and relax and enjoy the roar of the ocean.
2 niggles for us. Mosquitos - as soon as the wind died down they were out in force and the mozzy nets are insufficient. And the queen bed is tiny and sunk and had roll.
The rest of the property is in keeping with an authentic wooden lodge on a Caribbean island. Just idyllic.
Points were lost for the bed and mosquito control - if these were better managed this would be heaven on earth. As it is - 4 nights became challenging by the last night.
