Let me first start by saying that ive stayed almost 500 nights over 5 years at Marriott hotels for work, I’ve had good and bad experiences but this one was just a cascade of issues.
The first night my partner and went to the pool where we couldn’t find any towels, we went to the front desk to ask for one and they directed us back to the pool. We had to go back to the front desk to verify there were no towels and they finally gave us some. Not the worst thing to have happened but it shows a lack of customer service that I would normally expect from Marriott. The person before us in line was also offered snacks, the offer was not extended to us despite being Gold elite, kind of an awkward situation when there is no consistency between guests especially when it’s done in front of other guests.
While we were at the front desk we also asked about the bar which was advertised on our key cards, the front door of the building, and on the advert for the hotel. We were told that there is no alcohol on the premises. (We were later told that the bar had been closed for around 4 years).
Back at the room we discovered that the shower did not drain and that the fan does not actually vent any of the moisture from the bathroom. I messaged the front desk to notify them so that we could figure something out in the morning but the staff decided that sending someone at 9pm to try and fix the issue was the best first choice.
