The staff was friendly and helpful the hotel was in disrepair. I had no hot water in my room and the lights kept going out. Not enough chairs around the pool and the beach. Long waits to get into the restaurants to mediocre food. Very little choice and lots of carbohydrates. Were it not for the friendly staff I would give this place a one out of ten.

The Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda had multiple options for dining keeping it varied throughout your stay. Drinks were plentiful and varied as well too which made hanging out by the pools, beach, and bars enjoyable. Housekeeping was also prompt and left the room tidy every time you came back from an activity, an excursion outside the resort, or when getting back from breakfast. The resort was also very walkable from your hotel room to the beach, pools, lobby, or the various restaurants. Each day and night different shows, activities, fairs, and parties were hosted. It made every night fun and different when staying at the resort. Overall, I'll definitely be coming back to this resort the next time I'll be going to Playa Del Carmen.

I have been to a few all inclusives from a 3-5 star. Im not one to have high expectations when i am going. I go for the sun and relaxation. The rooms are a bit older and dated but this did not affect our stay at all. We are rarely even in the room. I found the beds to be too hard but my friend thought they were fine. Again a preference thing and i am picky with beds so i don't hold that against any place. Room was cleaned daily and we were left fresh towels ever day and fridge stocked every day. Food was all inclusive food. Could always find something at the buffets and never got sick. The staff in the buffets worked very hard and were always so friendly. The a la cartes were decent. We really enjoyed the french. But they were all good and a nice break from the buffets. We had no issues gettinf reservations and uses the app and it was super easy. The beach is probably the one thing id complain about. The is alot of seagrass which makea the water look dirty and smelly. But that is mother nature and nothinf the resort can do about. They were always on top of cleaning it off the beach. We were very impressed withbhow clean the resorts surroundings were. It was a beautiful property. We always saw people working hard and cleaning. The pool was also very clean. I know a ton of people complained about the chair situation. There is a very limited amount of chairs but we would find one between 7-830am daily. For the price we wouls go back for sure. STAFF, POOL AND SUN.

The patio door was broken so it never locked and it was next to the hallway which anyone could have broken in the front door also was kind of hanging off the hands anyone could break an easily the food was okay, the resort was beautiful

Absolutely do not stay here

I cannot stress enough how terrible my experience was at this hotel. During my stay, a personal item was stolen directly from my room. When I reported it to the hotel staff, their response was shockingly unprofessional and indifferent. They offered no meaningful assistance, took no accountability, and showed little concern for the seriousness of the situation. To make matters worse, I later learned that other guests had also experienced thefts during the same time. Clearly, this is not an isolated incident but part of a larger security issue that the hotel is either unwilling or incapable of addressing. The property itself is in poor condition — outdated, worn down, and poorly maintained. Cleanliness was questionable at best, and the overall environment felt neglected. The food was mediocre, which would’ve been tolerable if everything else wasn’t such a disaster. Unfortunately, it just added to the overall disappointment. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, under any circumstance. The lack of safety, poor management, and overall decline of the property make it a place to avoid at all costs.

The food at the buffet was rarely hot, so people waited for fresh trays to be brought out and then swarmed like vultures to empty it in a matter of seconds, Ignoring the queues and just pushing their way through. You can try the restaurants for a break from the hoards but the food despite being plated and brought to you must avoid seeing heat. I lost my wrist band on day 1. I was close enough to the lobby to pop in and ask them what the cost is if I can't find it. I was told $60 but was then threatened to be detained if I left the lobby to go and look on my own, furious that this was the case considering I had brought this to their attention I asked how I was to look. The concierge called security to come and escort me around, I checked in every few minutes as to where the security was and after 20 minutes of waiting this young lad appeared with a torch, yes, a torch, because this all took so long the sun had now gone down and he resort was dark! Thankfully after looking around the pool with his torch we found the wristband floating at the edge. I took this back to reception and it appeared they had not put the band on correctly! No apology for making me wait, or threatening me, nothing. Just told that this one shouldn't fall off. The carts are useless. Once we were packed and waiting by the stop to be picked up with or luggage it took 35 minutes for a cart to collect us. 4 drove past and just shouted 'no luggages' we had a small carry on. I have run out of room for more.

Your transportation is awful couldn't get a ride to or from any restaurant. Couldn't book one of the special restaurants out of 7 days zero were available room was fine at first glance but then tried to take a shower and found other people's hair in it the bathtub is cracked felt like it was going to fall through the next floor

this place lacks professional front desk workers. they barely speak any English. u cannot communicate any issues. not enough staff to work the front desk nor to answer the phone. Very poor, aggravating and disrespectful attitude from one particular staff, Alejandro, at the concierge desk. we were extremely stressed out due to being locked out of our safe, the staff were not answering the phone. no choice then but to get down to the lobby ourselves to address the problem. we were directed to speak to a staff member at the concierge, Alejandro. Alejandro had a very passive aggressive attitude and a smile on his face the whole time, while we were very upset and pressed with time as we needed to depart to the airport w/in 30 minutes. he very slowly picked up the phone & asked for security to go to the room and fix the safe. we kept asking how soon will they get to the room, & he just kept smiling, saying he does not know. He did not even bother to call to find out. he then had the audacity to tell us that it was our fault that we were locked out of the safe. when we asked to speak to a supervisor, they would not let us speak to one. while dealing with another problem earlier in the week, all that the front desk staff cared about was if we put a review on regarding that situation. the rooms are very old, beds uncomfortable, shower & both sinks we clogged, rusted mirror, no drain covers, electric sockets dont work. Garden view? disgusting- just a forest of trees. never going back

I'm going to try to keep this short, gets my blood pressure up. This is by far the worse vacation i have ever taken. Stayed 8 days. Called front desk over a dozen times no answer. No hot water. All inclusive only if you could get reservation at restaurant. It was so tricky, 4 if them could make through the app then it quit working then you would have to hunt down concierge which was a half mile away, and then would tell you we can only make it for the next night. At the Ja Hal (steakhouse) they let cats, coati run around the restaurant, cars would spray and the coati actually grabbed silverware off my table. It was disgusting. Never went back to that one. Was unable to get a reservation at the french restaurant. Everytime you went to book a spot it was full. Crazy. They have 900 rooms and 250-300 chairs around beach and pool. You have to get there by 500-515am to get a spot. You would have to stand guard your towel till after 7: 00a if you left security would steal your towel and they would make you pay $30 to get it back it was a scam. It happen to me. Talk to this person talk to that person talk to this person just give me my time you took it you said you took it. 3 hours later. Only asked me one time on the beach if I wanted something to drink. The room was so noisy. Air whistling thru the sliding window, if you opened it to get it to stop glass banging on balcony. Elevator broke. Well I'm out of room, or i would write a longer review. Only thing good the weather.

This is an excellent resort; good facilities. It is a huge property with lots of walking or shuttle riding. It is too far from Playa del Carmen to walk, and bus is a bit difficult; $30 U.S. by cab. Food is very good, sometimes some is not hot enough. As others noted, not enough pool chairs (like most resorts). The staff is great; the shows were too late for us.

Nice Resort but can be better

The personal half its exellent but the other half its terrible also i wait 1 hour to make the check in To make a reservation for dinner its hard always full but the food its exellent one of the best its the french
