We used Antica Porta as a base for our excursions in Cinque Terra driving down to Monterosso each morning and back to Pignone at the end of the day. This worked well for us and we enjoyed getting away from the touristy towns along the coast. The hotel seemed recently remodeled and the proprietor, Alessandra was nice and unobtrusive.

Not close to the five villages at all
The hotel is not 4.5 miles away from the beach. Actually, th closest of the five city is a 45 minute bus ride, which only travels three times a day, the last bus leaving at six pm. Or a forty dollar can ride, one way. The roads are windy. When telling locals where we were saying, their exact response, included, "pig one is very far." it is not worth if, if you are not traveling with a car. The person is not always there when you first arrive, their neighbor let us in, but they only spoke Italian so it was difficult to communicate. The amount spent for the place and transportation to and from the five villages along the coast ended up to be extremely costly, and it is definitely not worth it.

Not great but not bad either.
Good things about the place: It was a quiet stay and the room was fairly well kept. The little town of pignone has a pizzeria that serves some great ice cream! The price of the stay was decent compared to the outrageous prices one would pay to stay in Cinque Terre. Now for the bads: First off, we had to take an alternate route to get there because the owners of the B&B failed to tell us the road has been closed for some time due to a landslide. Secondly, the B&B says it's close to the Cinque Terre, which it is if you are travelling on a map however, your not, so it takes a good 30-45 minutes to get there from all the mountains. Third, the owner emailed us to send them an SMS about an hour out from driving so that someone would have our room ready however when we got they had no idea we were even coming and we were told to come back later. Fourth, our internet did not work the entire time and when we called to have someone come and check on it we were basically told too bad. Fifth, you have to search for a place to park so dont carry heavy bags with you. After saying all that, as already stated, the room itself was not bad, we basically got a little less then what we paid for but i'm not picky so I wasn't too dissappointed.
