    Petchaboon’s greatest charm is undoubtedly its natural beauty. Up north in the popular Khao Kho district you can take a leisurely drive through picturesque roads, passing quirky cafes that offer incredible views of the Petchaboon Mountains you can soak up with your coffee. During the winter months, Thai’s camp on these hillsides so you’ll find lovely street-side stalls and markets offering everything from leather backpacks and clothing to grilled chicken, pastries and ice cream.

    If you want a more rugged escape, venture into one of the many Petchaboon national parks. You’ll find cascading waterfalls where cool water flows over jagged black rocks falling into tranquil pools in Tat Mok National Park, not far east of Petchaboon town. It takes a fair amount of walking to reach the waterfalls but the jungle trails are good and if you’re really lucky, you may catch glimpses of wild elephants, macaques, or barking deer!

    Like everything else, you’ll find the food selection in Petchaboon to be a local experience. With simple restaurants offering quick but delicious Thai stir-fried dishes with rice, and markets with all manner of ready-made dishes, you’ll need to choose carefully to avoid the camouflaged chillies or giblets.

    Public transport is slightly scarse in Petchaboon so the best way to get around is to rent a car or motorcycle. You can catch buses from most neighbouring regions and motorcycle taxis are often available at the Petchaboon Market, hotels and the bus station.
