The hotel was a good base nice pool area , very handy for the cable car to the Rock and walkable to the Main st and marina area, we didnt eat in the hotel.

I do have a grievance. The personnel was just not up to par with other 4-star hotels. We had to walk out on day one because after waiting nearly 20 minutes, nobody took our order. Second day, while we were waiting for coffee, nobody would come to serve us. I went to the person that was scheduling the tables and I asked for someone to bring our coffees, so what happened was that instead of lattes they brought drip coffee with milk. They still charged us 5,50 pounds for that (which was horrible). Anyway, not coming back to this hotel.

This is the most famous hotel in Gibraltar as far as I’m aware. It’s looking a bit tired and a little pricey,but overall it was a very good experience. Had a pleasant room with a nice balcony overlooking the water. It has the best shower I have experienced in a hotel. One negative point is it has the steepest driveway of any hotel I have stayed at.

We were expecting better from such a renowned hotel with so much history. The staff was friendly especially the porter, the views were spectacular, however the dining experience was terrible, and very expensive. The rooms were pretty small but offered all the amenities needed and having a balcony was great. Good for 1 night but wouldn’t recommend staying longer.

Some reviews say dated but that is rubbish. It is a classic hotel with the charm of an old hotel. Rooms are perfectly comfortable, sea view is amazing and staff and food were excellent and reasonable

Nice hotel across from a lovely botanical garden. Overall experience was good, felt a bit chaotic at times when staff were very busy. The staff are friendly, polite and very willing to help you.

Needs work

The beautiful iconic “The Rock Hotel” This historic hotel is now a little passed its prime. I feel The owners have taken there eye off the ball. It holds so much wonder & there are select few staff members that shine like your expectations would be. None of the staff were unpleasant & most had the correct attitude to guests, but for a premium hotel lacked training & professionalism. Our room had no electricity in the sockets upon our arrival & tripped (whilst we were not in residence) 3 more times. We were not overloading it as nothing was plugged in. Maintenance did come & assist the first time but as we knew the issue we flipped the breaker ourselves after this. The safety deposit box wouldn’t lock & there were other general issues that shouldn’t have been present in any hotel. We only ate in the restaurant once, where the food was not great & I couldn’t eat my prawn thermidor. Unfortunately its taste was just dijon mustard which took away any taste of prawn. The table wasn’t checked on & I was not asked if there was any problem when my full plate was collected. To top the presentation off, at each service all the plated food was practically thrown on our table. This made plenty of noise & food slid to one end of our plates. Mr Ghazis still had complete professionalism inside & out off the hotel (proper mister)
