The host experience was just fine. With a one-night stay, getting in late and leaving early, I didn't have high expectations of the host. Communication was good. The door code worked, once I figured out that of the two doors, only one had been programmed with it.As for amenities, they included an awful lot of crane flies (pretty sure I killed at least 50), a sour odor at the pantry, a super-loud window A/C unit in the bedroom, light switches that didn't work (though one turned the portable A/C unit in the living room on and off) and an incredible glare through the windows in both doors from the bright white hallway lights. While the pictures don't lie, it took some gall to call this the "Beach View Suite". There might be a glimpse, in perfect weather, of the general part of town where the beach is. Oh, and that fan over the bed, in the picture, is in very sad condition.The furnishings, fixtures, and appliances were either very old, very cheap, or both but they functioned for the most part. Other than the flies and the smell, the place seemed generally pretty clean.I am glad my wife wasn't with me - she'd have left at the first sight of the place. This doesn't in the least bit resemble Vrbo's TV advertising, or the ratings it has been getting. It will be a bit before I try Vrbo again.
