Staff were great. Bathrooms in the rooms are lovely. Food in the restaurants is good. But the grounds and room amenities at this "resort" leave a lot to be desired. The main dining room is lovely, but you may well be seated instead in the auxilliary dining area, which feels like the "kids' table" at best. The hot tubs by the pool may--or may not be--working. Your a.c. may-or may not be--working. Your "frig" is really a "wine cooler" which is NOT as cold as a refrigerator, but no one tells you that until you figure it out for yourself. At that point, if you ask, you can pay EXTRA for a real hotel frig or micro wave, but no one tell you that unless you ask, and then those amenities, which are "first come first serve, may--or may not be--available. Your HVAC system in your room is quite dated, and will be set on EITHER heat or A.C., but no one tells you that. The thermostat implies you have both---a reasonable assumption. If you are there in-between seasons (and the desert is hot during the day and cold at night in shoulder season), you may need to talk to the desk and asked to choose between heat of AC, but you can't have both. If you are not told this, you will simply think that room room thermostat has gone rogue, because what it displays has nothing to do with the actual temperature in the room! This was, once upon a time, a lovely, subtly luxurious property with fine amenities and gracious grounds.....but now it is seriously rough around the edges.
