There was no way of turning off the main light in the room, with the switches not working. When I reported this to reception they said the only way to deal with this was for me to use the switch on the fuse box each time I wanted to turn it on or off, which also involved me standing on a stool to do this, in the dark for half the time. I don't think this is an acceptable situation in a hotel room, and yet the hotel would not even consider any kind of reimbursement for this

We had a great stay! The staff was friendly, the room clean, and great access to everything! It could get a little loud at night, but we were impressed with the sound proofing. In terms of service, my mom forgot her phone, and not only did they call right away, they raced to the train station to make sure we didn’t leave without it! I would definitely come back.

Such excellent staff and service. Very convenient location. Shops and restaurants right there. Noise from outside was awful on weekends. Basic but clean and comfortable.

Gets the job done

The AC was good which was a nice change after the last 2 hotels where we could never get the rooms cool (and those were very nice hotels). And despite being on an active street it was super quiet. Our sheets has some stains on them. The shower didn't maintain temp and the drain seemed to be clogged a bit. After a short the shower, the bottom was almost overflowing.

The staff were very friendly, and we had a comfortable stay. The amenities were excellent as well. Since it’s on a street with many restaurants, the noise at night was a bit noticeable, but apart from that, I was very satisfied.

The hotel was spotless with good WiFi. In an excellent location . Close to bus station . Many good restaurants and shopping near by. The staff were extremely friendly and most helpful. Rooms are tiny but with very nice linensOnly negative was the 2 flights of steep stairs but staff was very willing to help with luggage.

Compact room, clean and with all you need for a one night stay. Very easy check in process and friendly member of staff. Very centrally located and street was a little noisy in the morning due to deliveries etc. but not a huge issue. Would stay here again 👍

My wife and I spent a night here at the end of July. We had asked for a room on the first floor, which we given. Check-in was quick and easy. The room, whilst small, had all the aminities necessary, including a kettle with branded tea and coffee, sugar and sweetners, sachets of milk in the mini fridge and two biscuits. There were also two cans of still water in the fridge. There was also a 32-inch flat-screen TV and Free WiFi which worked well.The bathroom toiletries were by L'Occitane and there were plenty of towels provided. The central location was excellent for seeing the city sights. It was only five minute walk to the bus station and a food market was just around the corner. I was particularly impressed by the amount of information provided by the hotel prior to our arrival, infrming me of ID to bring, local parking facilities, check-in time, etc. If we visit Oxford again I will certainly consider the Bocardo as my place to stay.

Fa bulous

The staff was so accommodating. They went out of their way and that is important to us. The king sized bed was so comfortable. The location is perfect to reach everything. The only negative would be the lack of an elevator so you need to be comfortable climbing stairs.
