Great stay

Wonderful stay starting with from the checkin with Garren...Breakfast was great. I don't usually eat the eggs or sausage but both were cooked to perfection...there was an abundance of choices to be had...The jacuzzi was in great working order and the temperature perfect. We had no complaints about anything. The room was very clean and everything was in working order. Wished there were more motels like this one...

The staff were nice and the free breakfast pretty decent as far as those go. The place is pretty old, but decent overall. I was pretty grossed out that the bathroom had an odor of old urine. It seemed to be coming from the old, stained grout in front of the toilet.

This hotel serves it's purpose. It's right outside the Valley Of Fire and that's likely the reason most people stay there. From that perspective it's perfect. It's clean and quiet and inexpensive. Happy we got a chance to stay there on our way from Vegas to St George.

Room Improvement

The beds are very firm which may or may not be a problem with some guests. The large slide window was very hard to open and close. The microwave made a loud noise when the glass table would rotate, probably needs to be replaced. The deadbolt on the door would not latch properly leaving only the swing latch for security. The hot tub was not very warm, should be around 100 plus degrees. Management should take the "service fee" that we paid which fluctuated from $15.00-17.50 depending on the day of the week to make necessary repairs.

The first room they gave us had a strong stale smell. The bathroom was in need of remodeling. The tub was stained and looked dirty. We asked for another room. The clerk at the front desk was pleasant and gave us another room. The 2nd room was better. The bedding was older but clean. We left before their breakfast room was open. I felt the room was overpriced for the condition of the rooms. We were on the 2nd floor. There is no elevator.

No Hot Water

The staff was very friendly and efficient. The only disappointment was no hot water. I like to soak in a tub after a long day of hiking. The "hot" water was barely warm, at best, even after running enough to fill the tub. The room was OK, it was clean, but it's obviously been a number of decades since anything was updated. the carpet in the hallway maybe.

HVAC controls are easy to use and do as expected. Low fan setting is nice and quiet. Breakfast included sausage, french oast, eggs, tortillas, waffles, etc. Everything was kept clean, tidy, and filled. Beds are not top-of-the-line, but are comfortable. Linens have a little age, but are fresh and clean. The room smelled nice and clean; proper clean, not air-freshener clean. So did the hallways. All of the people were frindly and professional.
