I recommend that you read recent "bad" reviews from other websites, because it is true (ex. they canceled or changed hotel after paying, because it was so bad). I was so shocked to find that the room was so dirty with dust everywhere and food on the floor, I had to call the cleaning team. They came with more "mature" person who gave instructions and "younger" trainee who was still learning. I heard that they changed owner 1 year ago and maintenance has major issues. All the places were so outdated (and also not clean...) and they said that they will have to renovate the whole thing (start with plumbing...) because the place was made in 1960s. I didn't mind the old charm but it has to be clean... The room phone was broken and I asked three times to replace but the request was ignored. I had to walk to the lobby every time I had to ask for toilet paper, towel, etc. Only plus is that the indoor pool with hot tub was enjoyable. Maybe we will return when the renovation is complete or the owner is changed and the place is absolutely clean and staff is trained...

The main building at the lodge was very nice however, we were placed in accommodations that were off to the side of the main building that was more like a very old Motel 6 (no offense to Motel 6). The building was very old. I felt like we were staying in the servant quarters. We had access to the amenities in the main building but i was very disappointed with what we paid to sleep in. The entire lodge is somewhat dated but still nice with a lot of potential if it were to be updated. It did appear that they were beginning to do renovations. The staff were all very nice and accommodating. We did enjoy or stay!

This hotel has alot of old world charm and the outdoor grounds are lovely. The Japanese gardens had beautiful gardens and waterfalls eith koi fish. The views of the lake are wonderful. The pools are nive. The rooms were comfortable and quiet, fairly clean. The interior of the hotel itself was not very clean and in need of upgrading. Pretty sad that the front glass doors to the hotel were dirty. There's no excuse for that as the workers can clean them easily. The carpeting on the stairs to the 2nd floor was stained. The service was ok, nothing exceptional. The doorman could have held the front door open for people as there is no automatic door opener. Instead, he stood at his desk inside, waiting for people to come to him when they needed help. We ate dinner at the main restaurant. The pasta primavera and jalapeño cheese grits were good. The cleanliness of the restaurant was poor. There were dead bugs in the windowsill. The vinyl on the chairs was torn. I think the hotel was recently purchased. I hope the new owners can rehab it so its original beauty and high standards are restored.

Disgusting

I was extremely disappointed with my recent stay. The room was noticeably dirty, and the carpet was so filthy it clearly hadn’t been shampooed in quite some time. The balcony was just as neglected, covered in spider webs, bugs, and dirt, making it completely unusable. What makes this even more disheartening is that I used to work at this hotel when it was under previous ownership, and back then, it was truly top tier, clean, welcoming, and worth every penny. Unfortunately, that standard is long gone. Charging over $200 a night for these conditions is outrageous, especially when nearby budget hotels like the Super 8 are in far better shape. I expected more and left feeling completely let down.

We had issues upon arrival with room cleanliness and not the right room. We got upgraded which was nice but then the air conditioning wasn’t working so it was blazing hot most the night in the room. Charges were added to my room that were not ours it’s been a awful Experience

There’s no nice way to say it. Flat out old and gross. I stayed in the main hotel. If it wasn’t for the friendly staff and views. I would rare it overall 1. Needs to be cleaned and updated. I took video of my bed. It didn’t have a fitted sheet and the bed bug protector was ripped( meaning if there were bugs it would not protect me). I spoke to some locals and they all agree it has gone downhill over the years. I come to the lake once a month for work. I felt like I was at the holiday inn express. It maybe better

Overall we enjoyed our stay. Room was clean and comfortable. Bathroom facilities needed repair. Outside curb appeal also needs repair and maintenance. Pool area was nice but temperature was in the 90’s and there were no umbrellas to provide shade for the lounge’s.
