Great value

Very clean room, friendly service, and not too expensive. The location isn't remarkable, but the hotel has been there since 1917, so I'm sure most everything around it has changed

Property is filthy and has a stench. Cobwebs on the top of the check in counter for starters. A dank smell permeates through the property. The reception staff need a lesson in customer service.

The room toilet water reservoir wouldn’t refill unless I tapped the plunger. The in-room A/C was noisy. The window screen was broken. There was no A/C in the gym nor were there any wipes to use on the equipment. I had my own wipes and it was disgusting how dirty the equipment is. The jacuzzi blows air and not water…it’s noisy and ineffective.

Excellent experience. Lives up to the Historic Inn name. We loved exploring the lobby, restaurant and bar to admire all the unique antiques that are strategically on display everywhere youlook. The restaurant food is excellent. The full bar is classy and old timey, I couldn't ask for more than that. Every employee I talked to was nice, knowledgeable, and eager to be helpful. We will be back again

I’ve stayed in hotels that look antiquated but have clearly been remodeled to feel more of a modern comfort with vintage vibes. But this hotel? This was the real deal. It felt like nothing had changed since it was built, in both charm and function. Definitely a unique experience—kind of like stepping into a time capsule.

Overnight stop!

Incredible room, especially considering the amazing price.! 2 king beds and a separate living room with couch and two easy chairs. Living room and bedroom both had flat screen tvs. Only 30 minutes to Solvang and Pismo Beach where rooms were quite a bit more! Easy luggage cart access and the grounds and hotel itself were very nice and impressive.

The Santa Maria Inn is historic and very interesting. We stayed in the newer tower and found it to be quite comfortable and quiet. Of course, it is an original hotel of 1917 so there are issues of maintenance and upkeep that are not crisp as a newer property but it is a unique place to stay. There are multiple restaurants on site as well as a number of good restaurants within walking distance. If we had more than a short one night visit, we would have enjoyed the amenities available. There is plenty of parking. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. We plan to stay again at our next opportunity
