The hotel is set between a motorway and a petrol station which did not seem like a great location, however the hotel has its own grounds with a nice pond with some benches and was actually very relaxing outside area. The bar and restaurant also have open frontages with balconies and it was a very nice setting.
The hotel is an older build which seemed to be undergoing a refresh when I visited. It was spacious and comfortable and generally everything seemed to work and be in good condition.
The hotel room was great. I had a door out onto the pond and garden area I mentioned. The bed was comfortable and the room was spacious. A note for business travellers, there wasn't a good desk to work at, although there was good wifi available free. There is a kettle in the room and some basic facilities. Everything was clean.
I ate breakfast in the hotel, it was basic and very acceptable. This was a buffet type and self service.
I ate in the hotel restaurant and the food was nice, the prices for food and drink were very reasonable, the service was friendly if a little inattentive.
Generally I found the hotel very quiet, which is good and restful, but it was quiet with staff also. Front desk was closed quite early, and the bars and everything else seemed to shut early also which is a shame when there is nothing else near by to use as an option.
