It was a place to sleep for the nice. Not clean at all though. There was already used bar soap on the bathroom counter, floors were sticky, dog hair balls in the corners.

There was no one at the front desk upon arrival. It took over 10 minutes to get a hold of someone. The entire hotel had a weird smell. Overall, it was a good hotel. Quiet and relaxing, something we were looking after being on the road all day.

The carpet on the second floor adjacent to the elevator was absolutely filthy! The toilet has water stains. It looks disgusting! The caulking is missing around the shower valve! I have a picture to prove it. There are several damaged tiles on the floor in front of the elevator on the second floor, which is where my room was! My room was in the worst possible part of the hotel facing a truck-stop! The entire area is surrounded by large 18 wheel trucks! They were teenager kids running around in the hotel because of graduation day from high school. These kids were very loud. I will never stay at any property that that Hotel operator owns. I will never book another hotel. Stay on Expedia ever again.!

Cost is always a criteria for me. Motels in Hays that were safe, inexpensive, (less than $100) and clean were over $200 this weekend because of graduations. I was forced to travel 22 miles to Ellis to find an affordable room. The only drawback, the shower didn't drain. Other than that, it was convenient to the interstate and fast food. I will stay again, I think I will no longer stay in Hays. Hays has become too crowded and busy.

I was disappointed with the breakfast; thought there might be something better than what was there. Not a great selection. Lack of a hair dryer was also disappointing, though the woman at the desk was so nice to try to find me one to borrow. Unfortunately the ones she had didn't work.

When I checked into my room at 7:30 pm on what had been an 80° day, my room's air conditioner had not been on & the thermostat read 86°. It was HOT in there. I immediately called down to request another room, but none were available. He said it would only take 15 mins to cool down. No apology. It took 2 hours until I wasn't sweating. Also, there were ugly stains in the toilet. He said it was from the cleaner. Again no apology. The sheets were bleached so much, they felt rough. The breakfast was toast, yogurt, or you could make a funnel cake thing. No tea, fruit, or protein. I used to stop at this hotel twice a year 9 - 13 years ago and it was wonderful. Never again.

It’s truly astonishing that this place hasn’t been shut down. The filth is profound. The bed was stained; the floors are covered in dust, crumbs, and dead bugs; the outside of the toilet bowl was drenched in urine, as seen with a black light; and there are razor-sharp metal sheets in and around the elevator, which a child could very easily slice their finger on. The absolute worst thing is the shower/bathtub, which had massive amounts of thick, visible black scum. With a tissue, it was able to start coming off, so it’s definitely not a stain. I can’t even imagine how long you’d have to go without cleaning the tub for it to get that abysmal. The lobby and elevator were such a uniquely awful, intense smell that I thought I would vomit passing through them. The pillows smell as well. I see the issue of cleanliness has come up in other reviews, and the owner likes to respond with “it’s a budget hotel,” but being a budget hotel is not an invitation to break health code. If they want to save money, perhaps they shouldn’t be leaving the AC at 45 degrees, which mine was set to upon arrival. Other concerns include that it seems there’s never anyone at the check-in desk. There’s a sign pointing to a phone that it says to use to call for someone, but the phone appeared to be disconnected upon arrival. And the dryer in the second floor laundry room sounds like a rusty old swing that you can hear all the way down the hall, making it impossible to sleep at night.
