Warm and welcoming hotel, very friendly and helpful staff who helped arrange restaurant bookings and day trips. Perfect location- walking distance to everything but quiet and peaceful in our room. Loved the sweet bread and local coffee for breakfast.
This is a nice hotel in an excellent location, right next to Oaxaca's bustling markets and street stalls (recommended!) and a block from the Zocalo. Don't eat in the Zocolo however, the food doesn't give credit to Oaxaca's foody reputation! Try the stalls at the markets, or head up to the restaurants near the wonderful Oaxaca Cultural museum, a few blocks to the north. Given the fabulous food right outside the door, breakfast using the worst of the plastic supermarket sliced breads is pretty disappointing ... as is the lack of a bowl for cereal and the same scrambled eggs every day. But no matter, the yogurt and fruit is nice and fresh and you can make coffee or tea all day. The beds are comfortable. The showers (as they seem to be in Mexico) are luke warm... the room we were in, as do several, back onto a rather uninspiring light well - ask for a room on the top floor to get the most light. Staff are sweet and friendly - and if you use their recommended laundry for washing clothes you'll get the best folded clothes you've ever seen - an art form!
