Northern Mariana Islands Holiday Packages

The Northern Mariana Islands have a lot of what you’d expect from a South Pacific destination: white sandy beaches, resorts with staff who can’t wait to pour you another cocktail, and heaps of untamed jungle. This chain of tiny islands also has something unique: ties to the U.S. that stretch quite far back. As such, there’s plenty of military history in this remote destination for you to explore between tanning sessions.

Looking for more native culture? The Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) has that, too. While many Chamorro residents speak English and all use American currency, you’ll be able to explore tiny villages, farms and countryside with our Northern Mariana Islands holiday packages. So pack your thongs and a good camera, and start your getaway!

Stuff to Do

With all that white sandy coastline spread over 15 mostly unpopulated islands, lounging, sunbathing and swimming will take up much of your schedule. It’s a tough job, but someone’s got to do it, right? If you can squeeze it in, we recommend gearing up with a pair of flippers. That, and a snorkel or scuba mask. Many of the islands are surrounded by colourful coral reefs where you can glimpse the underwater world. OurNorthern Mariana Islands holidayswon’t turn you into Jacques Cousteau, but they ensure you can pretend to be him for a while. Minus the submarine and the cool accent. But maybe you can work on that beachside in between cocktails.

City Life

The “big city” is on Saipan Island. And—go figure—it’s called Saipan. This capital city boasts grub from American, Japanese and Chamorro cuisines, so taste all three. No, not in the same bite. That would be weird.

Ready for some shopping? Grab one of our Saipan car hire options and load up the boot with goods at the giant Duty Free Galleria in Garapan. If souvenirs are what you’re after, check out locally-owned La Moda Isla.

After catching a beautiful sunset (one of many you’ll be able to enjoy on your Northern Mariana Islands vacation) throw back a tinny of imported beer and sing the night away at a karaoke bar.

Where to Visit

When you’re ready to leave the city, check out Tinian Island. Other than the extensive casino (feeling lucky?), it’s pretty quiet around here. Take a hike through the jungle or a swim on any beach (they’re all considered public park lands).

While Tinian and Saipan are the heart of Northern Mariana Islands tourism, Roto is where you’ll find the true heart of Chamorro life. Cruise through the rolling hills and farmland or explore the Wedding Cake Conservation Area at the southern tip of the island. And then there’s Pagan, one of the few uninhabited islands that’s open for ecotourism. Talk about off the beaten path!

Can’t wait to start your Northern Mariana Islands vacation? We don’t blame you! With so much tropical fun and relaxation, you’ll need one of Wotif’s packages to get you started. Why not grab one of our Saipan holidays and spread out from there? And we don’t just mean spread out on the beach!
