At this cabin, you'll be 1.4 km (0.8 mi) from White River and 9.9 km (6.2 mi) from Jacob Wolf House. .You can enjoy Smart televisions with a DVD player, and cabin features a washing machine, free WiFi and a patio. In-room dining is easy with a kitchen that comes equipped with a fridge, a microwave and a stovetop. A living room, a TV and a coffee/tea maker are also available. Housekeeping is available on request.
This cedar A-frame log cabin has everything you need for a wonderful vacation or just a weekend getaway. Newly renovated on the inside and brand new hot tub. It is a wonderful place to stay year round. We have many guests that come to fish, but also many guests that come just to relax. This cabin has a bedroom downstairs with a king bed and a spiral staircase winding upstairs to the open loft that has a queen bed overlooking the living room.
The cabin comes nicely equipped with everything you need so bring your favorite things to cook. Nice large expansive deck to grill your favorite steak while overlooking the firepit or cook in the air conditioning on the gas stove while watching the big game or.....just do both. If cooking is not your thing, eat at one of our many amazing restaurants. 5 star dining is available within 1 mile of your front door. You will not be disappointed. Several places to eat within 15-20 minutes from here and a craft brewery with a saloon to boot. Pizza, prime rib, fajitas, or pork shank osso bucco with lobster tails...we got it all around here.
If you have come to fish, the trout fishing at The Escape at Tall Pines is some of the best in America and we have the records to prove it. The former all tackle world record brown trout was caught 15 minutes away. This trout, which weighed 32 pounds, is still the second largest brown ever caught anywhere in the world. The 3rd largest brown ever caught was also 15 minutes from here. Honestly, I have never caught anything near that big, but I have been fishing here for over 35 years and on many occasions caught 30 or more fish in the morning and another 30 or more after lunch. You can only keep 5 a day, but I like to put mine back and let them keep growing. In 2025 I caught two brown trout from the bank that measured 24 inches in one day. When you fish the White or Norfork rivers you'll also enjoy some spectacular Ozark Mountain scenery. The water is a clear emerald green. We have bluffs that rise 150 to 200 feet above the water. Meadows, wildlife, water fowl and other birds are common sites along the river banks. Bald eagles are not a rare occurrence. They can normally be seen up and down river. If you are lucky, you may see one swoop down and grab a fish for supper or to feed the babies. You can rent a boat in the towns of Norfork or Calico Rock which are 10 minutes or 17 minutes respectively from The Escape. If you are not comfortable navigating a boat on the river you can get a guide who can provide the boat and all the tackle. You can buy your fishing licenses and trout stamps in town or easily on the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission website (AGFC.com). Booking fishing or exploration trips with local guides is pretty easy. If you schedule early you can get a guide from around here that will get you on the water and back here with no driving on your part. It is less than 1/2 mile to the boat launch, but they will pick you up and deliver you back home. About 20 minutes from The Escape is Norfork Lake, which is famous for large striped bass. You can also catch walleye, largemouth, smallmouth, catfish, bream, and crappie. You can rent boats or barges at one of the local marinas or go out with a guide that will provide the boat and all the tackle.
If fishing is not your bag, we have many sights and attractions not a far drive from here. There are many marked hiking and mountain biking trails close to the cabin. Nearby Mtn. View boasts many craft shows, live music, and flea markets many times of the year as well as Blanchard Springs caverns, Mirror lake, the Dulcimer Shoppe, and Loco Ropes adventure ziplining. Calico Rock is known for The Peppersauce Ghost Town and its revitalized Main street with museum and Old Printing Press café. If you are into antique shops there are many in Mountain Home (25 minutes away) and the historical town of Hardy (about 50 minutes away), which is where I go when I am looking for something in particular. I'm gonna say you can always find it in Hardy. If you are into kayaking, you can rent kayaks or canoes in Norfork with shuttle service provided. In the hottest part of the summer, kayaking on the White river will amaze you. The water will keep you cool and is awesome for a swim. If you bring your own kayaks for your stay here, I will drop you and pick you up.
Whether you decide to relax at the cabin all day or have the Arkansas adventure of a lifetime, just know you can top it off with your favorite beverage in the relaxing, clean hot tub on the back deck. The back decks of both of our cabins are surrounded by a 6 foot tall fence backing up to the woods for your privacy and seclusion.
We are pet friendly for house trained doggy guests!! We only allow smaller dogs up to about twenty pounds, crating is required if left alone. Pet fee is required
Consider staying at a Family owned property instead of a Seen One Seen Them all franchise!!! I do all of the cleaning and am on site pretty much all of the time. Our hot tubs are drained, cleaned and refilled after each guest.

Nice little cabin
We enjoyed our stay at Tall Pines. The wife and I wanted a quiet getaway from the kids and this fit the bill perfectly.
There were a few negatives, so I will list those first. The shower is rather small, and we were unable to keep water from running out onto the floor. The entry to the property is a small drop off from the road which isn’t a problem in a larger vehicle but if you have a smaller car like we did do you need to go extremely slow so that you don’t scrape. The mattress in the upstairs loft is not very comfortable. It is an old spring mattress that could probably stand replacing.
The positives definitely outweigh the negatives though. The downstairs mattress was great! The kitchen was well stocked with cups and plates and bowls and utensils. The hot tub was very nice and the privacy fence built all the way around it made it a very private area for my wife and I to enjoy wine in the hot tub. There was a very very nice restaurant three minutes away called PJ’s white river resort. We weren’t fully able to take advantage of all of the surrounding activities, but the caverns nearby and all of the hiking around the area looked great. We plan to check that out next time .
Overall, we enjoyed the property. Fair price, clean, private, with plenty around the area to do.

Little hideaway
I almost hate to give a review for this place because I am so in love with it that I hate for others to find it as well. But this place is amazing. It’s the second time we have stayed and it’s that perfect place to get away from the world and just be. The owner is amazing and sends emails to check on your stay and if you need anything. But other than that, you are pretty much off the grid. We will definitely be making this an annual thing.

Bathroom had a smell that wouldn't leave, shower is super small even for a regular size person
The interior needs a MAJOR facelift. Looks like someone bought cheap garage sale items & decorated house. Found 2 long hairs on bed sheets, bathroom had a smell that wouldn't leave & shower is SUPER small. Property manager was great with checking on us & giving us all info we needed. AC units didn't work very well at all either. Wouldn't come back.

Cute cabin
This is a cute cabin. If you're looking for frills it isn't here. Not the cleanest but not the worst I've ever seen. We would stay here again. It's not far from the river and less than 20 minutes to the fish hatchery , Dry Creek and the tail waters.

Cabin Review
The location was fantastic and right around the corner from the water. The cabin is cute and has a loft upstairs (we didn't utilize the space). My husband and I decided to take a mini-vacation for our anniversary. On our firsts night, we noticed the carpet in the bathroom was wet, and so we immediately sent a message (through VRBO) to the property manager. I would have called (they gave us their number), but we did not have cell reception. We took advantage of the wifi and messaged that way:). They responded within minutes.
My only complaint about our stay was the cleanliness of the cabin. There was plenty of linen, and the towels were freshly cleaned. However, the extra blankets smelled of mildew. The only reason we used them was to put down on the couch and chairs (in the living room) because it does not look like they have ever been cleaned. Stains and spots were visible. While sitting in the chair in the living room and you reach over to turn on the light, you notice that the inside of the lampshades are dirty. Also, the countertop in the kitchen next to the stove had grease on it, and the fridge was dirty inside and out.
When I turned down the bed, I had to brush stuff (things off the trees may have blown in if they had the slider open while cleaning) off of the bed. We ended up changing the sheets.
The couch is old (you sink in and feel springs) and needs to be replaced. The porch where the hot tub is does not have a light. When you go out, you have to use the light from the bedroom, and that is not sufficient. A light should be installed out there for safety reasons.
Just a side note, we did have to fight wasps from inside the cabin. As soon as I arrived and walked in, there were about 15 wasps in the cabin. I thought they might have come in when I was unloading the car. However, The next day when it warmed up again, we noticed there were more, and they were coming in from between the slats of logs in the cabin. It is a cabin, so we chalked it up to "nature."
When you walk into the cabin, it is nice, and you get a feel for "cabin life" I think it just needs to have a few things replaced and updated so that it makes it a little more comfortable.

Great Rustic Cabin
Had a nice stay in this rustic cabin. Great size for 2 fishermen. The hot tub was great after a day on the water and the stars were outstanding. Beds were comfortable and everything functioned. Had a fire outside each night. Cabin is a bit of a ride about 30 minutes from mountain home but other eateries are closer. The caretaker was responsive to our request for hangers and got us a bunch the next day and like almost everyone we met in the area was an warm friendly helpful person.
