Private Rainforest Retreat | Opposite Billabong Sanctuary

Welcome to Townsville’s very own Rainforest Retreat - a peaceful hideaway set on 1.25 hectares of rainforest, bushland and creek. Perfect for families, couples and anyone wanting something a little different.

Located in Nome, directly opposite Billabong Sanctuary, the house feels tucked away in the rainforest while still being only around 15 minutes from the Townsville CBD.

The Home

Our spacious 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom Queenslander-style home is surrounded by bushland and has a beautiful wrap-around verandah overlooking the forest and creek.

The house has plenty of character, with vintage furniture and décor mixed with all the modern comforts you need.

Some of our favourite features include:

- Private creek access
- Wrap-around verandah with forest and creek views
- Fast Starlink internet
- Projector with Nintendo Switch 2 and surround sound system for movie nights
- Large Weber BBQ
- Vintage furniture and décor throughout
Plenty of outdoor spaces to sit, relax and enjoy the property

Bedrooms

The main bedroom has a vintage king bed frame with a comfortable modern mattress, its own ensuite and a walk-in wardrobe. Large windows and a glass sliding door look directly out over the bushland and creek.

Step straight outside the bedroom onto the verandah, where you'll find a daybed, sofa and coffee table — one of the best spots in the house to have a morning coffee or just sit and listen to the wildlife.

There is also a single trundle bed stored underneath the king bed, which can be set up for children when needed.

The second bedroom has a queen bed, study nook and large wardrobe.

The third bedroom has a bunk bed with a single bed on top and double bed below. For families travelling with children, we can also set this room up as a little kids' space with toys and a timber play kitchen.

Wildlife & Surrounds

If you love nature, this is a pretty special place to stay.

You don't necessarily need to leave the verandah to see wildlife. Depending on the time of year and a bit of luck, visitors around the property can include brushtail possums, kookaburras, tawny frogmouths, wallabies, kingfishers, pythons, microbats, brush turkeys, cockatoos and bandicoots.

Guests are also welcome to explore the property and enjoy private access to the creek.

There are plenty of walking tracks, national parks and swimming spots within around 20 minutes of the house.

The Bindal Ridge walking track is only a couple of minutes down the road and has also had a number of recent koala sightings.

Whether you're coming to Townsville for a family getaway, a quiet weekend surrounded by nature or just want somewhere a little more memorable than a standard hotel or suburban Airbnb, we'd love to have you stay.

We can't wait to host you!
