The room was a bit dusty. The soap dispensers in the men’s toilet on the ground floor were empty. I believe the photos of the rooms with a view of the castle had been photo shopped as I couldn’t figure out how it is possible to see the castle as show in the room photos, from any of the rooms. I was able to see the castle from the window but only just.

Wonderful place! The staff is great and the room was the perfect size with wonderful amenities! There are plenty of food options around and it’s about a 5 minute walk from the tram station! Each room also has its own AC where some hotels in Japan only have central AC it was nice to have personal control.

Excellent hotel. The only reason why we gave one less star for comfort was because, as visitors from Australia, we found the mattress to be very hard. It was the same at other hotels we stayed at in Japan. The hotel is within walking distance of the Matsuyama station or a short tram ride.

Westerners know what to expect.

The hotel and reception are impressive however of all the places we have stayed in Japan this was the first where we really nearly left halfway through our stay. The room was dated and the sofa and net curtains had cigarette burns in them. The room was clean but noticeably a little run down. The BIG issue though was the bed. We had a twin and both our beds were hard as rock. We asked for an additional duvet but we're told none were available so got a blanket each to try and add some padding. The following morning we asked for a different bed or a futon to put underneath the sheet but we're told all the beds were the same and there was no futon available. In the end we got yet more blankets and slept on 2 thick blankets and the duvet folded over under just a blanket. Even then the bed was still firm. I'm sure for folk who are used to a futon this might be okay but for us it was difficult. On the plus side the hotel view was amazing looking to the castle, although the hotel is a little out of the town centre- about a 20min walk or short tram ride.

First off, the location was great, about a 10 minute walk from Matsuyama station, and right next to Matsuyama Castle. While the hotel is older, the room and bathroom were clean. There were some stains on the carpet and wall paper, and the plastics in the bathroom are little yellowed, but still overall clean. The air conditioning worked well, and the the room was quite large, at least by Japan budget hotel standards. I paid slightly more for a castle view room, and the view was definitely worth the extra money. Overall, I think the hotel is a good value, personally had no regrets staying here, and would gladly stay here again.

Not so noce triple room

The Good: - The staffs’ service is excellent - Convenience store just across the street - The castle can be considered walking distance - Tram station just outside the hotel The Bad: - Hotel looks and feels very old - The sofa bed state is terrible. headrest and armrest are very dirty. this was used by our son as his bed. - The toilet has a weird smell - The fridge doesn’t cool properly, temp is room temperature The hotel should consider dry-cleaning, changing or re-upholstering the sofa bed. It is really terrible. We didnt inform the staff of this cos they cannot do anything.

I chose this hotel because it looked like the closest from Matsuyama Station. It was about a 10-minute walk but if you have big luggage or if the weather doesn't cooperate I would recommend taking a taxi. There is a tapas-type restaurant attached to the hotel and the dinner service was all-you-can-eat for one price (you simply order what you like), within 120 minutes. There are two tram stations (one to Matsuyama Station and the other to Dogo Onsen) right outside so it was really convenient. The Matsuyama Castle is right across the hotel so if you are lucky your room may have the view. The hotel's age was reflected in the room and it felt like 1980. There was no electric outlets at the nightstand and there was maybe one or two available outlets in the room. But for a short stay it did the job and met my criteria of being closet to the train station.
