Set Appropriate Expectations
The home was conveniently located and spacious for 4 guests, but our experience was marred by the listing's inaccurate claim of a working home theatre system—a key reason we booked this property. After seeing a previous review citing issues, I contacted the owner 3 months before check-in to confirm it had been fixed. Two weeks later, I received confirmation that the system was “fully up and running.” Sadly, that was not the case.Unfortunately, upon arrival, there were no instructions and the system did not work—loud buzzing from the speaker, no ability to access streaming apps, and limited functionality. I contacted the owner around 9pm with no response until 12 hours later, saying a tech would call “in a few hours.” That call came at 8:45pm, asking me to send a video of the issue - not the type of technical support one expects on vacation.After sharing my disappointment, especially given that the theatre system was a deciding factor in our booking, the owner said it was a new projector and instructions were still being created. I requested a modest refund for the inconvenience, but was told the system is “user-friendly” and my request was denied.While the property itself is decent, the lack of transparency in the listing, the inoperable amenity, and the dismissive communication from the owner were disappointing. I hope this review helps future guests set appropriate expectations—and encourages more timely and thoughtful responsiveness from the host.
