We were upgraded to a suite, as I was on crutches, & needed a separate shower, which was excellent. Room was clean, with a lovely log electric fire in the sitting area, which was great for watching tv in the evening. Found the staff very helpful. My o my gripe, was the buffet breakfast, I think the calibre of this hotel should serve breakfast. The hot breakfast wasn’t replenished enough, eggs were hard, fried bread cold, instead of everyone getting a hot breakfast to their table. A big let down for a five star hotel!

Firstly the room wasn't ready on time, ok the hotel gave us a drink voucher, had a lovely drink while waiting. Room ready by 3.30, but kids had to be out of the pool by 5.30. there was then no slippers and gowns in the room. Tried ringing reception but the phone didn't have a lead, had to move a cabinet to plug it in. Phone then wouldn't work as call was blocked by administrator?? Had to walk to reception and request robes. By 4.45, still no robes and slippers, back to reception half dressed for swimming, complained to reception again. Was then greeted by the director of operations who had no interest in listening to anything I had to say. Apologised on repeat and asked do I need another robe. Waste of time. Definitely not 5 star experience

Leaking toilet in our room on arrival. A dirty tray from room service with left over food on it sat outside a guest’s room from our arrival at 3pm until 11am the next day despite our raising this twice with reception. Poor quality towels in our room. The spa area ran out of towels for guests to use. Spa was generally untidy, with cups and used towels lying about.

Room was clean and decorated well. Good shower nice warm water and room was at a good temperature too. The hotel was decorated well for Christmas as well with several Christmas trees dotted about the communal areas. Pool facilities were very good and kept clean and tidy. Breakfast was very nice as well with a good selection to choose from. Hotel itself is very picturesque.

Room decor (which we know has been recently updated) still lacking and paint chipped in many places. Two large glasses of wine in bar £30. ‘Colourful’ wedding when we were there which took over most of the hotel. We spent most of the time in our room!!!! We had one drink in Percy French and fabric sofas were stained. What has happened to the Slieve Donard? Potential for 5 star all day long but struggling to reach 4 star I’m afraid

We had a slightly strange experience at Slieve Donard. The hotel is lovely. The room had a great view of the sea and the bed was really comfortable. The gym and spa area are great. Its location is also amazing. However on our first night we were disturbed in our room after 10.30 pm to settle a restaurant bill because we hadn't left card details at the front desk. When I mentioned this to the staff the next day they said they would speak to the manager and get back to us about it, but never did. I was also quite shocked on our last morning to be turned away from the gym and pool because it was only open to members, and not hotel guests, at that time.

Excellent hotel. Great room, very comfortable. Superb Spa. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great stay. One minor thing that could be changed is the TV. There is no option to input an hdmi. (This is disabled). I know this may seem silly, but sometimes you just want to relax and chill with something on TV you want to watch. Having 'source' input enabled would allow you to watch your own device/program. The 'cast' function wasn't working either. I know you don't go away to watch TV, but when you have kids and don't get to watch much other than their shows, it's nice to have the option to just relax. If the streaming apps were even on the TV, you could login yourself. That would be an option. Like I said, minor point. Love this hotel. Can't wait to go back!
