We liked the peace and quiet of the wooded surroundings and eating dinner on the deck overlooking the lake with other guests. The after dinner walk with our dog on the path around the lake was the highlight of the evening.

This was a beautiful place! The people were great. It's got a great gift shop and 2 restaurants. The lake is beautiful and there's a zoo and carousel! William, Gabriel, Loretta and Shawn were so sweet and helpful! And Ky made sure my room was clean and that I had water daily! I would highly recommend this place if you have business in that area. It's very close to West point also! I wish it had been warmer so the pool would be open and might have fished too.

Booked on Expedia. It was confusing about the overlook lodge as the main place to stay but the option for a room was at the Stone Cottages. The room was neat and looked like a converted back room/ hallway. There was an exit door on the other side of the room thay lead to the parking lot so it had an exit sign and fire alarm pull station at that door but within our hotel room. The exit sign has an annoying green light on. The bathroom was knees-to-the-back-of-the-door tiny. Looks like a powder room converted to a full size bathroom. The walla were a bit thin. The common area held the landline telephone and thermostat for the whole stone cottage which included 5 other rooms. The kitchenette before u got to your room is where there is a microwave and even a garbage can. There was no garbage can in the room or bathroom. Otherwise its charming and well maintained. We enjoyed going to the main inn and walking around the lake. The grounds have clean outdoor areas and in the future we hooe to go on trails. Parking at the main inn was free for guests staying at the inn and $10 a day for others. The staff were amazing and helpful. We would definitely stay again for the price but hopefully with a normal sized bathroom.

They sent me to the back "5" to stay and it had not wifi in the room....so they wouldn't refund the first night....but did the 2nd night. I happened on a night when they had some kind of auto rally and it was SO LOUD and hectic.....and we're suppose to be in a quiet resort???? Hated it. The room was comfy.

Many maintenance issues

The lodge has a certain throwback charm but there are serious maintenance issues - peeling paint, pot-holed roads, overflowing trash cans (we saw vultures at the trash cans). Otherwise it’s a lovely spot with a walk around Lake Hessian highly recommended.
