Welcome to nirkwerk - the flat - WOHNEN&WERKEN Talking of working! Would you like to be creative during your holidays as well as going on excursions, hiking and enjoying the spa? We are happy to make our well-equipped workshop and our studio with its large south-facing window available to you. For example, you can bring a piece of furniture or decorative item from home to upcycle and decorate it with chalk paint and various techniques, or you can visit the local second-hand shops and choose a suitable piece. If you prefer textile work or would like to skilfully mend your laundry or transform your table/bed linen into home decoration, then a Bernina sewing and overlook machine is ready for you. We will be happy to give you advice. Would you like some company in between? If you enjoy travelling alone, but would like some company from time to time, such as a chat over a coffee or a glass of wine, then you've come to the right place. The flat - CO2 neutral with public transport connections The two-storey guest flat in a typical Appenzell house (with low ceilings - see detailed description), which we have lovingly designed over the years, is a separate part of the house with its own outside entrance in a contemporary regional style and is within walking distance of the village in a location on the outskirts with a beautiful view of the village of Schönengrund and the surrounding area. At the rear, with a view of the Way of St James, you feel as if you are on an alpine pasture and yet you are within walking distance of the bakery, butcher's shop, grocery shop and country store. You can also retreat to our forest with stream during the day. If you are travelling on the Way of St. James, you can reach us on foot in 15 minutes. If you are travelling by public transport, we will be happy to pick you up at one of the stops. We have attached great importance to the reuse/design of existing materials and furniture. You will therefore find a real gem, which is worth a stay whatever the weather. If you prefer to sleep on the ground floor on the same level as the kitchen, bathroom and house entrance, then use our new high-quality sofa bed in the living room, which can be easily folded out into a bed in a few simple steps. We have deliberately avoided carpeted floors and favoured LED lighting. We also use wood from our own forest for heating and solar energy for hot water.
