We stayed just one night on our drive to Lisboa - wish we could have started longer. Breakfast included at a nearby cafe - delicious. Nazare is not to be missed.

This location is perfect for beach, restaurant, and shopping access. Sit on your balcony and people watch. The only downside was the jacuzzi never got hot during the two times that it was used, but we would stay here again.

everything was very nice & as advertised but beware that in the end of august parking in nazaré is a nightmare, otherwise it is perfectly situated for food, shops, the beach and the bars

Property is very well situated. We had access to the sister property pool. Beds are comfy, rooms are big and clean. Only a few steps away from the beach, restaurants, laundry mat and parking. We would definitely come back.

In the thick of it

The rooms and rooftop are nice enough, but you’re right in the thick of it with a restaurant right downstairs that rings a bell every time someone gets a ‘boat’ of seafood served. Surely amazing for them, less so for those staying in a room just above trying to sleep. As there are several restaurants around, deliveries start very early with revving trucks and beeping. When they’re done the street sweeper starts. If you value your sleep, swap the beach location for something quieter.

We were in the "Quad" room, which is 2 tiny, connected rooms, one of which had no window of its own. Pictures and text implied there would be a "City view", "Balcony", and "side ocean view" - none of which were actually true

Great hotel with tiny beds and loud street noise.

This is a great hotel with excellent service. Breakfast is fantastic. However, my husband is 6 foot 5. He barely fit on the tiny bed. Additionally, it’s above a club of some sort and the partying starts about 1 am and finishes after 3 am. Very loud singing. It was amusing because we didn’t necessarily need sleep as we are on vacation. I can see how it might drive someone crazy if they needed sleep.

More like a pension

By the sea is really a pension not a hotel. It doesn’t have a lobby or anybody at a desk. The room is small and off the square and noises a little bit of a problem. If you go to bed early the condition of the room was good, but the door to the bathroom freaked loudly and would wake the dead. Otherwise room was meticulously clean, and the bed was comfortable. There was only one outlet in the room, except for the one behind the TV so charging your devices was a challenge if you have more than one. It’s a perfect place for a young people but 2 floors of steps didn’t work well for us. Location is excellent except moving on squares and mentioned. The price was a little higher than it should be for what it was. Getting in and out is more difficult than expected as there was no place to pull a car over.

I really enjoyed the location of this property. I stayed in Room 11 which doesn't really have a view or anything, and it's very compact, but it was perfect for what I needed. The location cannot be beat! Check in really starts at 3pm. I showed up at 2pm, and it was locked, which is totally fine! The breakfast is a prepared bunch of rolls, cheese, meat, coffee drink, jam, butter, and a real Nata pastry. Delicious! I would stay at By the Sea anytime I return to Nazaré.

Wonderful stay at By The Sea. Clean hotel, friendly staff, beautiful view and location. No elevator which was fine with us on 2nd floor but perhaps 4th floor guests might find it difficult with heavy luggage. Still a 5 star hotel!
