Lovely, secure lodge, close Mt Kenya Forest - 5Km Nanyuki - B&B; short/long stay

Located near Nanyuki at 7,800ft, this lodge is a green oasis, enjoying the equatorial sunshine with warm mountain breezes by day. For the weaker hearted, hot water bottles can be provided at no extra cost, but warm bedding is provided in all rooms. It is easily accessible by car, just 3 kms from the main Nairobi - Addis Ababa A2 through road. There is bus, train or our own shuttle from Nairobi. Nanyuki airstrip (international linked) is 4kms away, making Great Circle Lodge a niche destination!

On a clear night sitting around an outdoor fire or using our telescope, imagine seeing the craters of the Moon, Venus and Orion as clear as you ever will! With the scope Jupiter and Her/His moons - Io, Europa, Callisto and Ganymede - and Saturn's rings can all be seen.

There are 5 charming, thatched bedrooms featuring full beds, all with en suite bathrooms with hot showers. Two additional bunkhouses (bandas) offers 3 bunk beds each, accommodating a further 12. Finally 2 single sofa beds can be added. There are endless opportunities for camping within our grounds and self catering kitchen and separate bathroom block.

The Lodge often accommodates climbers and trekkers before and after tackling routes on Mount Kenya. We have two Associate English speaking Guides. Non trekking gear can be stored during your climb.

Other frequent visitors are wanting to spot the Big 5 at Ol Pejeta Conservancy which is 25 minutes distant, or are stopping over en route to a safari in Samburu National Park. Guides and transport can be arranged.

The famous Mount Kenya Safari Club hotel is 11 kms, with a lovely outdoor swimming pool. The Mount Kenya Wildlife Conservancy is adjacent, supporting the endangered Mountain Bongo, and with an animal orphanage open to the public. Ndare Ngara (waterfall of the Gods) with it's swimming lake, impressive waterfall, and canopy walk is within easy reach for a day visit.

The Lodge is also popular with those wanting to enjoy a night out in the fleshpots of Nanyuki, or simply wanting to get away from it all.

The accommodation is green, tranquil and private; PhD theses have been crafted here, with one student, Alex, from the UK, returning for multiple 'study' weeks!
