Downhill

The howard johnson used to be a nice but affordable place to stay. It's just affordable now. The place needs repairs and the repairs that are made are quite literally just planks of wood nailed to the wall then painted. The hallways stink like mold and the carpets are clearly discolored. They are in bad need of cleaning. Porch furniture was cracked and unusable. A visual representation of the entire place is a large fish tank in the lobby. I remember when it was a beautiful salt water tank full of vibrant fish. Last year I went and the tank was empty. This year it just had a tarp over it. Management doesn't seem to care at all, not sure if they're apathetic or incompetent. I'll never stay here again unless I hear about a change in ownership.

My family enjoyed our trip! Staff was friendly and the diner next door was excellent. This was a perfect location for our visit to the Aquarium and Mystic Village. From the outside it can look a little rough around the edges but our room was clean and comfortable.

Clean but Very Rundown Hotel and Property

Chose Howard Johnson for cost reasons and thought the Wyndham name added some merit to the quality. Stayed 2 nights for a local concert. Room was clean and bed very comfortable but little things in disrepair in the room and overall condition of the property was very poor. Biggest concern was the door we used to enter the building was supposed to be accessed by our room key but was broken and did not lock at all. On a positive note the Diner and Restaurant on the property was fantastic - excellent food and service, and the hotel stay did include a 10% discount there.

It's older and dated, and smells a little funky, but the price was affordable for Mystic. It served its purpose.

When we walked into the first room there was a horrendous stench. The bathroom was disgusting with urine and feces still in the toilet. The toilet and tub loked as though they had not been cleaned for weeks. I had to purchase a container of Clorox wipes and a bottle of extra strength Febreeze of which I used most of just to be able to tolerate staying there. The heat/AC only started working when we played around with the buttons and we even had diculty with the shower which only flowed water after banging on the knob. Lastly, the reservation boasted a coffee maker, which we had all the suppl I es for but no coffee maker to make coffee. The other room we had, contained a jetted tub that did not work. Complaints to management went unattended. I finally reached out to Expedia ,who contacted the facility on my behalf with no luck as I was denied a refund of any sort. So I will never return to this establishment, nor will anyone I know. I will be reviewing this establishment on all available sites. I am truely appalled by the way I was treated.

Not staying here ever again.

It took a bit to get checked in. Seems the front desk person was moving others into different rooms due to mold smell. When it was my turn to check in i said i requested a handicap accessible room on the first floor or near the elevator. I was told they just gave that room away and have no elevator. I took a room on the first floor, had no choice, that had no wheelchair ramp. Got to the room which stunk of mold. I called to get more pillows which never showed. The bathroom was tiny, toilet paper holder coming out of the wall and where there should be a hook in the bathroom there was tissue plugged in the hole.

Do NOT be seduced by the low price. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!! It is legitimately the single worst hotel experience that I've ever had. Depending on which floor/hallway you walked down, you were treated to a various plethora of putrid scents. It was like the tried to make this place uninhabitable. We had to move rooms because the initial room was a combination of mildew and smoke smells. Oh...and we had the lovely view of a wall and garbage bins. The second room was barely better, but at least it did not have the same smell as the initial room. But it did have a toilet seat that was loose and would not stay on when sat on. And a shower that looked like it hadn't been updated since at least 1987. We were also serenaded to sleep every night with the competing sounds of all-night TVs, rock music and arguing from what I believe were full-time residents of the hotel. The pool was closed on our last day, the only day that we hoped to use it. But looking at it, that was a blessing. There was absolutely no way that I'd allow my child to swim in that frothy bio-waste site they tried to pass off as a pool. Lastly, if you want to walk into the hotel, have at it. The "B" door is WIDE OPEN all the time. Zero security or keycard access required. This place should be condemned and torn down. Howard Johnson/Wyndham should be ashamed of themselves for trying to pass this off as a viable business and taking peoples money for this absolute dump! NEVER AGAIN.
