This family cottage is right on Mt. Desert Island, MINUTES away from hiking trails, canoeing, kayaking, and yet peaceful and waterfront!! Yes, you can access the pond from the property, if you rent or bring kayaks!



The Space:

Watch the ducks sunbathe, listen to the babbling brook next to the house, or take a trip to SW Harbor or Bar Harbor close by! This is a bird and nature lovers paradise with amazing views! This family cottage is right on Mt. Desert Island, MINUTES away from hiking trails, canoeing, kayaking, and yet peaceful and waterfront!! Yes, you can access the pond from the property, if you rent or bring kayaks!

The house is camp-style, with original kitchen hardwood cabinets, vaulted ceilings, and lots of windows for that wonderful view of the water!! Both bathrooms have been NEWLY remodeled. The first floor has all new flooring and a new sliding glass door and screen.

The kitchen is updated with new cabinets, lighting and countertop. This camp has just become a hidden gem!

There is a gas grill and dining on the deck. The open concept kitchen, dining room and living room give your family plenty of room to spread out.

First floor: Bedroom with a king bed, full newly remodeled bathroom with a washer/dryer

Second floor: Bedroom 1 has a king bed, bedroom 2 has two twins, bedroom 3 has two mini- twins.

There is a newly remodeled full bathroom on the second floor and a spacious landing for games, reading and birdwatching.

There is a new propane heater for heat on the main floor. Fans are provided for cooling. There is usually an ocean breeze for those warmer days. The kitchen is fully stocked for cooking, linens and bedding are included, the coffee maker is a drip kind.

There are no fires or smoking allowed

A full sized washer/dryer are in the home.

Canoes and kayaks can be rented 1/2 mile from the house on Long pond.

Swimming is also allowed at the house, and down the street at Long Pond. There is not a "path" to the pond, it is literally in front of the house. The level of the pond may vary from season to season.

Free Island bus, station 1/2 mile from the house. ANP Trails 1/2 mile from the house, approx. 244 more hiking, walking and biking. Close to restaurants, Bar Harbor, SW Harbor, stores, etc.

Location was fantastic for seeing wildlife (osprey, eagle, loons, deer) as well as ease of getting around the island. Just what we were looking for! Quiet Getaway in Acadia

We were looking for a convenient place to stay while touring Acadia and this cottage was everything we had hoped for. Only a few miles from hiking and biking trails as well as places for kayaking. The cottage looked small from outside but very roomy inside. We enjoyed watching ospreys hunting fish, quiet sounds of streams running right next to the property, and the convenience of being on the island to visit many attractions of the NP. Although we had to cut our reservation short, the property was absolutely lovely. It is exactly what you would want for a family vacation. The location and setting of this house is amazing! So quiet, beautiful, and peaceful. Loved falling asleep to the sound of the babbling creek right outside the window. The house is very comfortable and it feels like a home, not just a rental. Grocery shopping and restaurants are about 10 minutes away which made it very convenient after spending active days hiking and sightseeing!

Absolutely beautiful view from the porch. 30 min or less from anything we wanted to see in Acadia or around the island. Convenient with grill, washer/dryer, dishwasher. The property was exactly as advertised on VRBO. Great location just close enough to the amenities of Bar Harbor but a wonderfully quiet location in Mt. Desert. The sound of the flowing stream nearby is great to fall asleep to. Sunrise over the pond is spectacular. The mamagement company is great to deal with. They are very responsive and thorough informing you about the check-in, check-out process. Would definitely recommend this property as a vacation rental.

Quiet cabin tucked in the woods, but close to everything

The setting is beautiful, with views of sunrise on Somes Pond. Saw wildlife, including deer grazing near the house, and we heard loons and bullfrogs and the babbling brook right out back. The home is great for relaxing, and it had all the necessities. Central location to Bar Harbor, Acadia, and Northwest Harbor, and many scenic sea coast and lakeside locations and drives. The carriage roads are great, easy walks for nature lovers who like solitude.

Absolutely loved being on Somes Pond in this home. Everything was wonderful - clean, spacious, linens and kitchen fully stocked. This is a peaceful location yet close to everything you want to do in Acadia and Bar Harbor. We definitely will be returning. Large home with plenty of space and spectacular view. There is nothing I would change. It was perfection.
