I am convinced that Expedia has paid people for the reviews. Our experience at the hotel was nothing close to 4 star. From the very first day there we had problems. We booked the 2 bedroom, oceanfront suite. There was visible dirt, mold and water damage throughout. The air conditioner was also broken and there was dust and mold surrounding air vents. We immediately asked for a different room. This time we were given another 2 bedroom suite but with limited oceanview. This room appeared to be a bit nicer but still had its visible issues as far as cleanliness, outdated decor, faded and spotty curtains, etc. We decided to try to make it work since we would be out of the room on excursions most of the day. The very first night one of the bathroom toilets broke and my husband had to fix it. Later on in the night we noticed “furry mold” at the bottom of the door to the 2nd bedroom. The freezer was full of frost and condensation seeped through to the wood cabinets. Whenever the door closed pieces of wood and shavings fell to the floor. The refrigerator was the same just not as bad. Our second day there we came back to lizards in the room and the knob in shower in the master bedroom broke off. The forth day our keys didn’t work and we were locked out of our room. We ended up missing our excursion because of it. That day we also came back to no water in the entire building. The only positive about this resort was the staff. They were all friendly and tried to be helpful.

We stayed in building C and the rooms were really nice. The customer service was exceptional. The food was salty and they could had more activities. The hotel gift shop was extremely pricey.

I have always wanted to stay at Jewel Grande to get away from the excessive excitement of other hotels, we definitely wanted rest and relaxation with some entertainment. First off, the property is gorgeous, that view as you exit the main lobby is breathtaking, the pool overlooking the sea is a welcome to your vacation confirmation. The staff is very helpful, warm and friendly. That for me is worth the cost of the trip. There are 3 buildings and shuttles to take you from building to building with minimal wait, on some occasions we walked as the weather was very nice and there are shady areas. The check-in process was smooth and we got to our room and was wowed by how much space we had in our junior ocean front view. The bed was comfy and the room was clean, there was a little residue in the soaking tub but room service took care of that on our request. Let me get to the food, which is one of the reason I booked this hotel...if you want authentic JAMAICAN FOOD, hands down you won't be disappointed. We had jerk chicken, jerk pork, escovietch fish and ackee and sailfish. You name it we had it even though I wish it had more variety it was delicious. We didn't get to try the spa on this trip but me, my wife and my son (7 years) had a blast. Shout out to all the folks in the kids club, even though it was not busy most times my son did not want to leave and made friends! Big up to DJ rickey red, M&M and Nikki for the pool actives. Sadly, the hot tub was not working and mineral bath.

We had an amazing time. Came the week of Memorial day and we were the last week it seems like of "off-season" and at times felt like we had the resort to ourselves. Staff was amazing and very accommodating. I'd reccommend anyone going to visit Jamaica stay at this great resort.

We had a 2 bedroom suite. Which was very nice. The only drawback we had was the cabinets in the kitchen could stand a makeover.
