A magical place...
If you are looking for a magical place where time slows down and nature embraces every moment… this is the house for you.
Although there are no direct neighbors, the house has a small local garden just across the road, where you can also buy fresh vegetables and fruits. It is located along the national road that connects Mesão Frio and Régua, giving you easy access to both towns and an excellent base to explore the entire Douro Valley region.
You can also walk to cafés and a grocery store in just 5 minutes along the road.
Things to Keep in Mind:
1) The Douro railway line runs right next to Casa da Bebereira, as it does with many houses along the river. The trains are part of the charm, magic, and identity of the Douro Valley — they gently follow the river’s path and add a picturesque touch to the landscape. They pass by the house at fairly spaced intervals, causing some momentary noise and vibration. The first train passes at 6:00 a.m. and the last one close to midnight.
2) The house does not have air conditioning. Heating is provided by the fireplace and a wood-burning stove in the common areas, and by portable heaters in the bedrooms. For cooling, fans are available.
3) Even though there are no close neighbors, due to its location, this is not a house of complete silence.
That said, Casa da Bebereira is a true Douro treasure: spacious, full of character, surrounded by nature, and set in breathtaking scenery.
You are warmly invited to enjoy some fun and memorable days here!
