I have a preference for staying in old hotels that are in good condition. The El Capitan is excellent in all regards. It is a historic hotel built in 1931. It has been fixed up to contemporary standards, while maintaining the historical integrity of the hotel. The restaurant is excellent - as good as anything I’ve experienced recent years. It was a pleasant surprise. Everything is great at the El Capitann!

We always stay at El Capitan when visiting family in Merced. It's a great hotel. Please return to the original pour-over coffee option for in-room coffee. The one-bedroom suites are great for couples and provide extra space.
