Opened Oct 2022 to rave reviews. High end style, comfort, woods view plus walking distance to Mentone's shops & restaurants. Unique open floor plan, firepit, outdoor shower, soaking tub, gas fireplace!
Perfect for couples, especially honeymooners or celebrating anniversaries, birthdays! Created with remote workers in mind. Guest room: Queen Murphy bed & drop down desk makes the space perfect for an office. Plenty of storage in the expertly equipped kitchen w/ gas range. Main room consists of a queen bed w/ soaking tub, living room with gas fireplace, 55" TV, kitchen & dining. Comfortable deck with rocker, hightop dining table for 2. Firepit comes with a supply of wood and starter log.
This cabin is 1 of 3 rental cabins on our property of 12 acres. You will feel like you are in the middle of the woods YET you are only a couple of "blocks" away from Mentone's Log Cabin Village, The Wildflower Cafe (.3 miles) , Elevation Bistro (.4 miles) & Mentone Market (.4 miles) .
Even the most discerning travelers are in awe of this space. Most call it MAGICAL. Winking Owl is unlike any other Lookout Mountain experience.
On Saturdays, you can walk to Mentone's Farmer Market, next to the Mentone Inn (.2 mile walk) & have lunch @ Fontastic Food Truck (slow cooking, worth the wait!). Friday's Farmers Market is a longer walk or drive to Little River Hardware.
Brow Park is a .7 mile walk.
DeSoto Falls is 3.1 miles or less than a 10-minute drive.
DeSoto State Park is 8.6 miles or 15-20 minutes' drive.
Little River Canyon Center is an 18-mile or 27-minute drive.
You may see turkey, deer, groundhogs, or even a bear walking through the woods.
Laundry room with washer, dryer, iron & board is on property: left back side of garage. The PURE WASH laundry system only uses COLD water and requires no detergent.

We loved the layout of the cabin. The view from most of the windows was of the woods which made it feel more private. The kitchen had sufficient dishes and cookware and would have been easy to prepare a meal. We enjoyed the fire pit one day. There were plenty of towels and other amenities. We did have an issue with the mini split but it was resolved quickly. The large acorns hitting the metal roof was noisy at times but didn’t prevent sleep.

We loved our stay at Hoot Owl Hollow! The cottage, with all of the art, books and owl decor was so well thought out and cozy. No detail was left out to make sure our needs were met. The soaking tub was most excellent, and the furniture was so comfortable with many choices for relaxing, including the porch. A fire was set up for us out front and the lights were on when we arrived. Our host was available and responsive to our additional needs. The setting was secluded and beautiful, yet very close to town. The last morning of our stay we saw a family of deer quietly grazing outside the kitchen window!

Excellent. As a person who lives in a 520 sq ft cabin, just a hint concerning the Murphy bed. You may want to consider a full size bed rather than the queen murphy. The only irritation was the bedroom door will not open nor shut without picking up the bed. This was an irritant to me because I like quiet and dark when I sleep. The door issue makes privacy in the bedroom a problem.
