Rooms have been freshly painted with nice photos of WIlson's Promitory on the walls and new towels & linen. However the standard rooms are very small and cramped. The main problem is the reception and external areas of the motel. which give a very poor first impression. The reception area has a large wire cat cage in front of it and when you enter the reception it is very cluttered with lots of "knick knacks" on every surface which gives the impression of being dusty and untidy. The central "garden" area outside is full of small concrete statues and figurines in various stages of disrepair. The concrete patio area to each room is covered in a green matting upon which green moss abounds and could be dangerous in wet weather.

We do have larger rooms available. You booked a standard double room and size is stated on websites and priced accordingly. The cage at the front is for reception cats to enter from the house. You are the first guest who has not enjoyed the Catio and most guests love the idea and love to visit the two cats. It is the height of winter and has been extremely wet. This has made it very difficult to keep the gardens and exterior totally up to scratch, however, they are freshly mowed and not untidy. The garden ornaments are for the guests and children to enjoy and explore. They are not in disrepair apart from one wombat statue that I have noticed has a broken paw. Please people look at my website and ignore this review. You will see we have beautiful gardens and are ideally located. Should size of room be an issue for any guests I would advise them to book a larger room or call to discuss their requirements directly. This guest was one lady only and I dont see why a smallish room was an issue. It has everything you need in it. Once again I spoke to this guest on several occassions during her stay. Not once did she say anything negative face to face.

I get really annoyed with these reviews. I have no record of a guest staying around this time who booked through Wotif. As the review is anonymous I cannot even check if the guest was a genuine guest at this motel. A little run down? What does that mean? We offer country style accommodation which is clearly stated everywhere on our booking sites. Do not come to the countryside expecting Melbourne City style accommodation. We maintain our property regularly and have updated and modernised as much as we can without tearing down the building and beginning again. Most country motels are leasehold premises. Our landlords are very reluctant to spend money and would not agree to a complete refurbishment or teardown of our buildings which were built in the 1970's. Guest considering staying at our motel, please investigate our photos (or better yet do a virtual tour through our website) so that you know what to expect.

Very old style and needs upgrade. It was just okay to stay.

Since purchasing the motel we have replaced carpets, tiled walk areas, updated furniture and bedding linen, painted all rooms, upgraded televisions, upgraded fridges, installed microwaves to all rooms, installed new cupboards and updated our kitchen rooms. The bathrooms have not been updated as they were updated in 1995 and are still in excellent condition. The motel was built in the 1970's & further expanded in the 1980's. Apart tearing down the buildings and begining again we cannot see how we can further update the rooms. Please understand that most country motels are not owned as freehold but as a leasehold business whereby the landlord would not agree to doing extensive building renovations. Guests booking through Expedia/Wotif are all making the same comment so perhaps the expectation is not in line with what we offer. We offer country style hospitality in a 3 star motel with prices set accordingly. There are so many nice things to say about our rooms. We have high quality beds and linen, split system aircon/heating and excellent hot water pressure. We have beautiful gardens and provide free parking, free wifi and the use of our free outdoor kitchen and bbq facilities. We are also ideally located within walking distance of all Meeniyan's renowned restaurants, cafes & specialty shops. These comments of rooms being dated are not specific about what is found to need upgrading and we are finding the reviews very unhelpful.

The bed was hard and the room had a terrible odour about it. It was not a relaxing environment.

I think a bed is a personal choice. We never get bad reviews about our beds which are of a high commercial grade. I dont know what the odour would have been but if you had told me about it during your stay I could have fixed the problem. Why is it not a relaxing environment. The motel is in beautiful gardens and we provide country style hospitality. Why was it not relaxing? This review is very unhelpful.
