Fantastic location, very friendly staff

Pros: Location, the beach, friendly helpful staff, and a very spacious room.
Cons: Free or at least cheaper wifi, remove the credit card surcharge, cheaper entrees and cocktails.
Location: We did turtle watching and coastal walk tours organised by the hotel. These were good.
We loved this place. It is a fantastic location right on a very good beach. The staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful, and we had a spacious room with a large covered outdoor area in front of it where we could sit and gaze at the beach. Some minor gripes (which need to be read in light of the comments above): 1. The wifi. In Samoa you have two options. Buy a 2 week sim at the airport for 45 Tala, or pay an exorbitant 25 Tala for two hours at the hotel. The airport sim worked well in our room in remote Savai'i, but would only work outside at Return to Paradise, and if you tried to go outside after dusk to use it you would get eaten alive by mosquitoes. 2. The 3.5% credit card surcharge. We didn't have to pay this in Savai'i. Surely just about everyone pays by credit card, so this is then just an extra tax. 3. The entrees and cocktails are very overpriced.

Talofa David, thank you for your feedback. We are definitely working towards free WIFI, its not possible at this stage but it will be made available as soon as possible - like you we'd love this to happen! Surcharges are not charged on debit cards, only credit cards. These are fees charged to us by our local bank, no extra - but standard across island is 2.5-5% depending on where you go and I think most people do pay by credit card which I think is why banks are charging the fees :(

A very well located resort

Return to paradise is hidden away on a beautiful beach and run and owned by a very friendly team of locals. The beach is incredible for snorkelling 90mins either side of low tide, and is great for swimming anytime. It can be a bit rough at high tide. There is a lovely ocean pool to enjoy also! The views and sunsets are amazing from the beach loungers :D The accommodation is getting a little bit tired, it certainly is not as modern as some of the other resorts, but this also adds character and it feels more authentic. We often experienced low pressure in the showers and uneven temperatures which was the biggest issue - first world problems! The balcony in the Tree top room is lovely and provides a partial beach front view. The food and cocktails here are absolutely stunning, although a bit pricey, you will not be disappointed! I highly recommend the Tuna! I recommend keeping track of what you purchase and pay off your bill each morning as the billing system is a bit messy, but if you have any issues the staff will be happy to help you clear it up straight away. If you have any issues, the staff are very caring, respectful and quick to resolve the problem with you. Highly recommended to anyone looking to stay here!

I've been to Samoa three times, stayed at dozens of resorts here and other islands (Fiji, Tonga, Raro), so I know what to expect and what not to expect. RTP is a beautiful location, large spacious resort with stunning views from bar and beachfront rooms. Very reasonably priced. Food, cocktails, samoan buffet and shows all excellent. Continental breakfast could do with an upgrade, maybe wider selection of baked items, cereal for grownups - muesli. Relatively new resort and is locally owned. Good for adults, romantic holidays, not so good for kids (a good thing). Beach is not a reef break so gets rough at high tide. I come to the Islands expecting a relaxed holiday, I do not expect crisp service and perfect organisational and administrative operation, if you want that, stay home. Complainers should stay away from the islands... I will definitely stay here next time I am Samoa.

Talofa G - thanks for your feedback! As youve noted island time is definitely a real thing - but will continually work to on improving and making island time a positive (relaxed) and not a con (frustrating!).Our Exec Chef and FB Manager are looking at other options for breakfast Cereals - normally we have Museli - gluten free and non - we will definitely keep that on the menu!
