The hotel is situated just about on the lake front overlooking the waters to Gripsholm Castle, an idyllic location. There are plenty of loungers and outdoor furniture if you wish to relax and enjoy the views as well as catering if required. I had a room with a lakeside view which, although somewhat pricey, was very peaceful. There was an excellent range of items at breakfast. Staff are very helpful.

Unfortunately, our stay did not meet our expectations. The room was far too warm, and it was not possible to adjust the air conditioning. Opening the window to let in fresh air meant constant noise from the restaurant terrace, making it difficult to get a good night’s sleep. In addition, the hallway lighting was not working, and there was no ventilation in the bathroom. Overall, several practical issues significantly reduced the quality of our stay.

Lovely stay in a room with a beautiful castle view. We loved the common areas and lively bar and restaurant. The entire staff were so kind and helpful and the restaurant food was delicious in a charming ambiance with impeccable service. Great breakfast spread, only complaint is they didn’t replenish so if you arrived at 10am like we did the selection was diminished.

Lovely place to stay while in Mariefred

Lovely atmosphere and great common areas. Room was also nice, however bad smell in the bathroom and a little dusty around the bed and lots of cobweb on the windows (when opening window spiders came in). Great staff. Restaurant waitress spoke only English and didn't know the meny but asked collueges. Breakfast - the homemade bread was a disappointment but the pancakes were amazing. Overall a lovely stay and would definately visit again!
